Show HAPPENINGS AND WHEREABOUTS. In honor of Mrs. H. Vance Lane, who with Mr. Lane and Miss Lane will soon leave for their heme in Denver, Mrs. F. E. McGurrin entertained at a bridge tea at her apartments in the Brans-ford Brans-ford on Wednesday. It was a very pretty affair af-fair at which Mrs. McGurrin was assisted by Mrs. W. W. Armstrong, Miss Lane and Miss Bryan Bry-an Houston. A very beautiful luncheon was that given by Mrs. George Sutherland at the Hotel Utah on Wednesday for a large number of her friends. It was given in the banquet room adjoining the ball room on the mezzanine floor. Mrs. Frank Godbe, Miss Edith Godbe and Norman Nor-man Godbe will leave shortly for New York where they will spend the winter. In honor of Mrs. H. M. Lazelle, Mrs. Freeman Morningstar and her sister, Mrs. Louise Strau-hauer, Strau-hauer, gave a Kensington on Friday, and will give a luncheon today. Miss Jane Darling entertained informally on Friday evening in honor of Miss Gulia Dix, who with Mrs. W. R. Tysdale ad Miss Gladys McCon-aughy McCon-aughy will leave shortly for Europe. In honor of Lieutenant and Mrs. R. Leo Irvine, Ir-vine, Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Dunbar entertained at a dinner at their home in the Kensington apartments apart-ments on Wednesday evening. Senator and Mrs. George Sutherland have left for the east and will spend the winter in Washington. Wash-ington. Mrs. Wm. M. McCrea was the hostess at an informal in-formal affair at her home on Wednesday. An amateur event which will be" of great interest in-terest to society will be the pantomime of the old English ballad "The Mistletoe Bough," which will bo given by the younger members of the smart set at one of the theatres during the holidays. ' Mrs. Frank J. Westcott entertained the Crystal Club at her home on Wednesday, four tables of bridge being played, followed by a high tea. The artistic decorations combined com-bined with the original and pleasing ideas of the hostess made the affair one of the prettiest of the autumn. Mrs. Palmer entertained at tre third of a series of bridge luncheons on Friday. Mrs. J. T. Gilmer and children have gone to New York and other eastern points and will be away about six weeks. Lieutenant Persons is on detail from the Eleventh Infantry as instructor here for the U. N. G. Miss Kirkpatrick will arrive here within a few days to be the guest of her sister, Mrs. John A. Marshall. Mrs. Henry J. Wallace and Miss Leda Wallace who have spent the summer in Europe, have returned re-turned and a s at home at Federal Heights. Mrs. Dillf and Miss Margaret Dills are at home at the Annex Apartments. Russell L. Tracy entertained a party of a dozen at the Orpheum on Monday evening. Governor and Mrs. Wm. Spry have announced the engagement of their sister, Miss Lois Wrath-all, Wrath-all, to Milan O. Packard, Jr., of Springville. The marriage will take place at the Spry home in this city on October 10. |
