Show Cliff Gordon is a scream, proving that the age of the German comedian Is not past, if the man behind the comedy has sense -enough to. do something some-thing original. Really he is the hit of the piece at the vaudeville house this week, for there is a flavor to his stuff so real in spite of his fun that the philosophy strikes in and stays. Alice Norton's act during which she generously generous-ly distributes the gems she makes to an interested inter-ested audience is quite wonderful from a scien tific standpoint, but hardly a headliner at an Or-r.heum Or-r.heum performance. To the embryo chemist it is the vaudeville event of the year, but scarcely inspires the lay- man at the variety show. THE MUSIC FESTIVAL . That the Music Festical will be one of the great events in the musical history of the city is evident from the programs which will be rendered. ren-dered. The orchestra will play Arthur Shepherd's Shep-herd's composition during the third concert, Thursday afternoon, and word has been received from Conductor Rosenbecker that he would like Mr. Shepherd to conduct the orchestra in his (Shepherd's) composition. The demand for seats which has . been going on at the Clayton Music company, has been beyond all expectation; many orders have been received from points in Idaho, Wyoming, Oregon, Nevada, Montana and throughout through-out Utah. Railroads will make rates one day prior to the Festival. Program of Third Concert. "The Telephono Exchange" is the bill for the Lyric during the coming week., and in the hands of the Zinn Musical Comedy company it is a promising offering. The Zinn repertoire this season is an assortment of lively musical skits and none are said to bo livelier than "The Telephone Exchange." This affords any amount of opportunities for dances and songs and the sixteen girl chorus overlooks no opportunities. opportu-nities. 'The bill begins Monday evening. fjyC The Grand announces Mr. Thoo. Lorch and company in a new melodrama next week entitled "Only a Shop Girl," the engagement opening tomorrow to-morrow night.
