Show BERNHARDT'S INVENTION. Madame Sarah Bernhardt, the world's greatest tragedienne, is also an inventor, and has just added add-ed that accomplishment to her many others with a device which will revolutionize the theatre business busi-ness in so far as it relates to judging the house. Madame Bernhardt's idea is an enunciator in the form of a complete seat plot, with a small electric light at each seat number. This enunciator enuncia-tor will be located in her dressing room, and as each patron takes his seat his weight will Hash the message over the wires to the enunciator. Madame Bernhardt, as manageress as well as star, can tell at a glance just how many people there are, and how much money they represent, in the house. So that before the curtain goes up she cannot only decide to a penny how she stands, allowing for an average precentage of free passes, but she can as well tell just how the house will appear when she goes out on the stage, just in what part of the house the greatest number of people will be seated, just how she will have to use her voice in fact, she will know everything that could be learned by a survey of the house itself. That this invention will be an important one and will become a part of the world's theatrical history is certain at the start. It will become a monument to the wonderful versatility of Madame Sarah Bernhardt actress, sculptor, painter, artist, art-ist, musician, inventor. |
