Show Notwithstanding the earnest, almost tearful, pleas of his political opponents, and others who believe he should do so as a mere matter of political po-litical decency, May.' Candidate Lynch obdurately ob-durately refuses to resi a chief of police! Besides Be-sides the other phas his action which are open to censure, the chief is holding his position through the courtesy of Mayor Morris, who opposed op-posed his removal when a majority of the council of both political parties had planned to oust him. Possibly Mr. Lynch believes that no other citizen citi-zen could fill the position with such distinguished executive ability as himself, and if by some political po-litical or ecclesiastical simoon he is elected Mayor, the bitterest act of his official career will probably occur when, as Mayor, he decapitates himself" as chief of police if, indeed, it is not his ambition to hold both offices concurrently. Certainly his chances of election are not being augmented by his rubber-tired adhesion to the j policemanic office. |
