Show A learned professor in Popular Science discusses dis-cusses the possibility of other planets besides our own being populated. He reasons that we should Btavt from scientific facts in order to reach a right conclusion and then follows the old lines that worlds are lighted and warmed directly by the sun's rays shining through millions of miles of ether that is vastly colder than ice. It seems to us that such a theory is not only absurd but it is an impeachment by ignorance of the infinite wisdom wis-dom of God. The only reasonable theory ever advanced ad-vanced is that by Warder, who declares thac the light and heat is electric, that the sun continu-aally continu-aally gathers the electricity from all the realms of space, and continually throws it off through the cold of space, which Is a natural conductor; that when it strikes the atmosphere of a planet it finds a negative pole and the light and heat are generated. This seems In perfect accord with the ways of an infinite creating and all-embracing mind and carries with a sense dT the rest and peace which comes, wh' n the the body is worn out, to a tired soul In worlds that are fairer than this. |
