Show H V Society Eents of the t&eeK HI Tho Ndd Ferrys bave taken the beautiful Mack- R I lntosh home for the summer, and it will be the H center of attraction in town for the young married Hf sets with which the Ferrys are so popular. It Hl J is a big rambling ideal house to entertain in H'j and the julep porch on the south side, is the hope Hil of a number of designing young bachelors. A Something doing. HA)I 5 8 & Bfj There will be a number of Brigham street n i house warmings during the summer months. The Hgi Fischer house will be rushed to completion, and Hf ' Mr. Newhouse expects to be in his new home by Ej June. Then it is said tho Powers' will entertain Hg ' a great deal in their new home, and many oth- Hf ers will be in line. People are beginning to real- Hl ize that January and February are the months to H get away from Salt Lake, and not the good old H summer time. Hf. , The Schramm-Critclilow dinner for the Frank Bf i Jennings at the Commercial club Sunday evening Hf was a gorgeous affair, radiant with American Hi Beauties arranged artistically on and around the Hj table. It was probably the most Informal affair V;' of the kind ever given in the city, and certainly ki' holds the record for a line of motor paced repar- U tee, and a pairing of kindred souls. m Water flowed like wine and each one of the H twenty-three courses was a revelation. HK This was the first of a series of grotesque din- Bpi ners to be given by these gentlemen. H & & & M A moment's tete-a-tete, my dear woman, if you B i please. These anonymous weekly communica- m 1 tions of yours enclosing bogus lists of guests are H very annoying. Yours is the only name which H appears in them consecutively, and your work is H a little crude, considering how you are straining R yourself to "get in," and how impossible it is for H you to win out. However, my waste basket doesn't Hi i object to your entering it. m j! M According to numerous rumors, April will bo Bl a very busy month this year for the villese so- m ciety stork. B More power to 'im. B t to t H ! Sunday's San Francisco Chronicle contained M I the following: m ' "Miss Efizabeth Bacon Wright, step-daughter m of Captain W. K. Wright of the Seventh Infan- s try, was married to Arthur It. Rule of Pittsburg, H yesterday afternoon, at Captain Wright's quar- H j tors. Chaplain Hunter of the Seventh per- formed the ceremony, which was witnessed by Captain Wright, Colonel and Mrs. Coolidge, Colonel Colo-nel and Mrs. Woodbury, Captain and Mrs. French of the Seventh, and a few Army and Navy relatives rel-atives of the young folk. The bride,, who is pretty pret-ty and vivacious, was a dainty picture in her soft wedding gown. After the ceremony, the whole garrison called at Captain Wright's quarters to bid Mr. and Mrs. Rule good-by, and there were many regretful sighs, for the charming bride is a thorough Army girl, and has a big place in the hearts of all the garrison folk. Mr. and Mrs. Rule left last night for Los Angeles, where they will stay for a while, before proceeding to their home in Pittsburg. This is news to the hosts of friends of Bess Bacon in this city, where she was so popular, during dur-ing the stay of the Sixteenth at Douglas. Her engagement has been rumored a number of times since she left, but nothing definite till she knew this now Rule. t 5 & The last "Town Topics" has this to say: Samuel Sam-uel Newhouse, whom many hold responsible for the wind around the Flatiron building, and who has raised various other breezes, is going to live in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Newhouse sailed on the Oceanic in February, but he will return the first of May and oversee the stripping of his former apartments at Sherry's. It is whispered that all the furnishings will be moved to the capital cap-ital of Mormondom and placed in a recently purchased pur-chased and remodeled house that once belonged to Brigham Young. "Sam" Newhouse is a great favorite in the City of Saints (and some sinners), but Mrs. Newhouse prefers London and will not move for Borne time to come. "Gentile money," as theN Mormons call it, is creating havoc in the former abodes of Brigham. Not very long ago, Mrs. Emery-Holmes, "the Silver Queen," purchased pur-chased the Amelia Palace, the home of Brigham's favorite wife. t w There were enough ladies at the home of Miss Mary Louise Anderson on Wednesday to keep that charming hostess very busy. The cause of it all was another of those nice Lenten teas. O v O The Mont Ferrys entertained at a quiet theatre party Tuesday evening. I li () HAVE YOU SEEN THAT WINDOW of John Hold's at 54 Main street? It is beautiful with the finest stock of society stationery in Salt Lake. It is considered "The" place for engraved cards, at homes and weddings. Mr. Read and Miss Emily will go to the Fifth East hotel about the first of April, when the Fer-rys Fer-rys move into the Mackintosh house. & & A marriage of Miss Gladys Merrill and Mr. Henry S. Bates, which took place in San Francisco Fran-cisco a few days ago, is of much local interest owing to the many friends of the bride in this city. Both young people are very prominent in society so-ciety at the Golden Gate. t i&v fafa The Walter Filers gave an elaborate dinner Monday evening ,and afterwards the Ned Ferrys inspired the party with the Barlow Minstrels. 5 fc?
