Show ns X!Oith the Fir ft flight erf. Ng H ATTRACTIONS FOR WEEK OF MARCH 30TH. M Salt Lake Theatre Tuesday evening, lecture H by Mrs. Charles W. Rhodes. H; i Wednesday, atternoon and evening, ball and Hl entertainment o the L. D. S. college. Hf Thursday, Jb'riday and Saturday, "Corlanton." H The Grand. All week, "Finnigan's Ball." HH. ? ix If Lovers' Lane. Hf ' ' What a mess of rottenness Clyde Fitch has D handed us this year. And this last affair is prob- H ably the worst for character exaggeration so preva- R lent in the provincial productions of Fitch. H The hit of the piece is Henry G. Bates, as Mr. M Skillig, manager of the opera house. Perhaps H ho is no relation to Mrs. Bates, but he wears a H name that seems to always stand for good char- H acter work. His make-up is perfect, and while H his few minutes' work is only a bit, it is beau- H tifully artistic. He deserves a better fate. The H company, as a whole, was fair, but Leopold Lane jt as Herbert Woodbridge was the most comical HK bunch of seriousness that has strutted local Bp boards this season. Hl Back to the butcher shop Leo. You're a ham-Hff ham-Hff tatter of the yellowest stripe, and in a less peaceful peace-ful able community, "Lovers' 'Lane" would have wit-HJ wit-HJ nessed a nice lynching on your account. m & ,tt & B Next week doesn't hold much in promise a Bjj lecture a public ball, and "Corlanton" as a con-H con-H ference treat. B , Gods, is this, like the poor, to be always with m us? But come to think, the company ought to V ; .do it well. Miss Boyer's performance was splcn- B did before "she left, and she has had lots of ex- HJ perience by this time. However, were it not for B the conference crowds, the weather man might B predict heavy frosts. K w i& t(5 V We've all paid more money to see worse shows Kn, than the Barlow Minstrels. While some of the 1 jokes in the "first part" had their origin with H Noah, and the young man who essayed grand B opera was disgustingly ladylike, the show was B good, and one of the best seen at the Grand this M season. Hp V IV 4W H COGHLAN. ' m The Hose Coghlan one-nighters did Mrs. Tan- m' queray the second, to a house that one-night m stunts usually get, but then there was a better M i show over at the Athletic club. Rosy has seen 1 ' younger days, and her work is so uneven that at wj one moment she is very pleasing, and at another HM coarse and disappointing. If Plnero could have H seen his masterpiece in the Coghlan nanas, he m wouldn't care for it. Paulais two people Miss n i Coghlan showed but one side of her character. HI The company was well balanced, that is to say, Hi ! one was not much worse than another, and the H j J enunciation of Ritchie entered the ear with just H , as much welcome as a peck of green apples drop- H h ping into the stomach of a small boy.
