Show WHY SCOLD NOW. Is it not laughable to read in the Tribuno the denunciation of Messrs. Eardly, Spencer, Cottrell and Robinson, because they, in the City Council, have "betrayed" the party that elected them, when everyone in this region knows that they are neither Republicans, that they are just as obedient subjects of Joseph F. Smith as is Apostle Smoot hims 'f, and that in the council the merits of any case is never considered by them, their only solicitude being to know how the First Presidency Pres-idency desires thorn to vote. The Tribune ought by this time to recognize the fact that the First Presidency wants absolute control, as much ot the council as of the executive and legislature and wants all officers made of that kind of timber which gives 10 per cent of their salaries paid into th.e tithing fund. Keeping those two facts in mind the "performances of Messrs. Eardly, Spence, Cottrell and Robinson are all made plain and it is useless to inveigh against them. |
