Show r ! i " vv' V- U'jMii II rrrr--rr-- JL 1 Mule Deer The lovely, graceful mule deer seen ' throughout Garfield County has large and furry ears similar to those a mule thus the name. j Usually traveling in herds they are often seen in meadows or perhaps crossing the highway on their way to water in the eary morning and late evening hours. Mule deer eat grasses in the spring and leaves, buds and twigs of shrubs the rest , of the year. They will stand on their hind legs to reach ' low-hanging tree limbs. I As winter snows blanket the ground, the deer migrate ( to lower elevations where food is plentiful. 1 Lovely, graceful Mule Deer. The museum and visitor center at Anasazi Indian Village State Historical Monument near Boulder explains a long-ago culture with an on-site ex perience for the visitor who can walk among the remains of the village once inhabited by the Anasazi Indians. |
