And in nearly very incidence, they are right. But some areas are more so in some of these areas than others. And when it comes to rodeos, at leat in southern Utah, the Salina RC Rodeo is one which is fast becoming one of the top shows in the state. Sponsored by the Salina Riding Club, the rodeo began in 1962 as part of hte July 4th celebration. And it has continued con-tinued ever since. But last year, the rodeo changed from an IRA (Intermountain Rodeo Association), to PRC (Professinoal Cowboy Association), in an effort to draw more top cowboys for higher competition and entertainment. This years rodeo will be held Saturday and Monday, July 3 and 5 at the Salina Rodeo Grounds east of town. Officials say some of the top cowboys in the nation will be at Salina to compete com-pete and add points in their efforts toward national crowns and prize money. "This makes for a much better show for patrons, too," said Lisa Robins, a rodeo official. She said the club is working "fast and furious" to get the grounds in top condition so that both cowboys and patrons will enjoy some of the best entertainment in rodeoing possible. Of all professional sports, none is considered more dangerous nor entertaining en-tertaining than rodeos. Officials claim that the unknown actions of the animals leave the spot wide open to injury as well as demand full efforts on the part of contestants to compete. The grounds at the arena have new chutes and other equipment new this year to add to the excitement. The rodeo will begin each evening at 8 p.m. I ii " '" One of the toughest and roughest sections of a rodeo is bull riding. Here. Don Gay of Mesquite. Nev. rides in a recent rodeo.
