Show Allen Named to SUSC Institutional Council Panguitch businessman and civic leader Sam Allen has been appointed ap-pointed by Governor Scott Matheson to serve as a member of the Southern Utah State College Institutional Council. Allen and two others were appointed ap-pointed to fill vacancies on the council of the Cedar City institution. Members meet 10 times each year to review major financial transactions as well as academic, administrative, ad-ministrative, and curricular policies of the college. Each member is appointed to a four-year term. Allen is owner of Allen's Ford Sales, Inc. and currently serves as vice president of the Garfield County School board. He has also served for the past 18 years as a board member of the Alcohol Recovery Center in Cedar City. He has served as a member of the Five County Association of Governments Steering Committee and as a director of the Bank of Iron County. He attended SUSC and received additional training during four years in the U.S. Army and later at FMI Training School as a Ford Motor Company affiliate. He and his wife Loraine have two sons, Rodger, Parowan and Charles, Panguitch. The other two newly appointed . council member are elementary school teacher Carolyn Washburn, Monroe and businessman Donniel Horlacher, Logan. Dale Zabriskie, Salt Lake City, is the council chairman. Other members include Vice Chairman James Hoyle, Cedar City; Joanna Adamson, Salt Lake City; Garn Huskinson, St. George; Michael Park, Cedar City; and Mark Wade, SUSC student body president. Mildred Cardon, president of the SUSC Alumni Association, is an ex officio member. |
