Show Title I Program At Escalante Effective acquaint themselves with their responsibilities. ESCALANTE The Title I Program at the Escalante Elementary School has proven to be a very effective and vital part of the school curriculum. An evaulation of the program during the school year 1980-81 has shown significant gains in the reading and math areas. Twelve students were enrolled in last year's program in grades 1 through 6. They were given special supplementary sup-plementary help in either reading or math or both. Title I aides spent 20 to 40 minute periods each day giving individaul attention at-tention to each child's needs. Hal R. Shrutz, principal, prin-cipal, reports that the aides were assigned to work closely with the students' regular teachers and develop individualized programs especially suited for each child. Instruction was then geared to help strengthen each student's weakness. The Title I program is especially designed for parents participation. Kathy Woolsey is serving as PAC Comittee Chairman with Carol Simons acting as District PAC Chairman. They have already visited our school and attended various meetings to |
