Show Excell Receives Service Award As UHSAA Director SALT LAKE CITY - At the 32nd Annual National Conference of High School Directors of Athletics in Orlando, FL, Panguitch native Evan Excell received a Distinguished Service Award. Excell serves as the executive director of the Utah High School Activities Association. He was a high school athletic director for 21 years and coached high school basketball, track, golf, football, baseball and cross country for 28 years. Excell became only the third athletic director in Utah to earn Certified Athletic Administration Administra-tion status and has required all UHSAA staff directors to become certified athletic administrators admin-istrators also.' He has received many awards over the years, including the Utah High. School Basketball Coaches Association Award in 1999 and the 1992 NIAAA State Award of Merit. In 1993 he received the UHSAA Distinguished Distin-guished and the state athletic director of the year award. He is a son of Hilma and the late Jim Excell. |
