Show Bryce Valley Art Show Slated For April 10 TROPIC - The Bryce Valley Art Show will be on Apr. 10 at the Bryce Valley Elementary Gym and the public is invited and encouraged to attend. An assembly will be presented from 1 : 1 5 p.m. to 2: 1 5 p.m. and from 2:15 through 6:30 p.m. the student art work will be exhibited in the BVE gym. The students have worked long and hard to get their art work ready for this exhibition. Ms. Estelle Roberge, the art instructor at Bryce Valley, is responsible for putting this event together and has worked closely with all students kindergarten kinder-garten through '12th grade. The assembly will be presented present-ed by Phillip Bimstein, a celebrated cele-brated composer of modern classical music. He has performed per-formed in the Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, the Aspen Music Festival and the American Dance Festival. He has also been twice elected mayor of the city of Springdale near Zions National Park. Bimstein will play some of his compositions (on CD) for students and anyone else interested inter-ested in attending and this promises prom-ises to be a very enlightening and pleasant program. Bimstein was born in Chicago, 111. and is a graduate of Chicago Conservatory of Music. After further studies at UCLA, he took a hiking trip to southern Utah and never left. Two of his proudest accomplishments accom-plishments have been serving as Utah Composer-in-Residence 1997-1999 under the Meet the Composer grant program and serving as mayor of Springdale eight years seeing all that people could accomplish by working together. While under the Composer-in-Residence program pro-gram he worked with youth at the Washington County Youth Crisis Center and composed works celebrating the landscape and community of Utah. |
