Show cmmotmuE asm By Marva Fletcher 679-8521 LDS Stake High Council member Bob Ott and recently returned missionary Rusty Rich traveled to Boulder and provided provid-ed a message in the Boulder LDS Ward on Sunday. Cannonville Ward also had a wonderful Sacrament meeting with speakers McKay Thompson, Lonnie Comp, Raphael Morreale, Marty Rich and Joe Thompson. They centered cen-tered their remarks around the Priesthood. A beautiful song was provided by a male chorus, "Ye Elders of Israel," accompanied accompa-nied by Gay Shakespear and directed by Joe Thompson. Elder Jacob Moss was awarded his Duty to God award. We are all very proud of him. This is the first time Cannonville LDS Ward has ever had a recipient of this prestigious award. Rosa Lee Thompson and Jory Twitchell received scripture reading achievement awards. Congratulations to both. Other ward business consisted consist-ed of the release of Glenda Feltner as a class leader in the Relief Society and she was sustained sus-tained as humanitarian leader. Rita Hammer was sustained as food specialist. Holly Baugh was called as assistant webelos leader and she will do double duty as a class leader in the Relief Society. Mel and Phyllis Beard made a flying trip to Arizona to attend the graduation of two of their granddaughters. Bonnie Willis attended a special spe-cial homecoming celebration in Antimony for her grandson, Kyle Willis, who recently returned from an LDS mission. Memorial weekend seemed to be busy for most folks as families fam-ilies had reunions, cleaned yards, went fishing and just enjoyed the friendship of being together as families. I understand the Smith Reunion was a huge success for all those who attended. This was a combined reunion of the George and Ada Thompson family and the Smith cousins. The list included all of the . Thompson family, Ann Reece, Guy and Beverly Thompson, Patty Lutes, Arnold and Sue DeWalt, Riley and Rachael Peeples, Joe and Trish Thompson, George and Teresa Thompson, Nick and Nellie Hadley and all their families. Also in attendance were Gloria Hayden, Jack and Janet LeFevre, Connie Kleese, Lynn and Carolyn Davis and Jim and Marilyn Rowan. There were other members there to participate partici-pate in the fun too, but all I can say is a good time was had by all. Someone once said, "home is a time, not a place." This is very evident during reunion time when thoughts and memories memo-ries are shared. It's always great to visit with Chester and Arlene who manage to sneak away from their busy schedules to return back to be with friends and loved ones. There were visitors at the Jim Clarke residence including their son, Michael, Cheryl Garrett and family from Cedar City; Arthur and Christopher from Las Vegas, Nev. (probably to escape the hear), Jim and Bertha came all the way from Springfield, Missouri just to say HI. Erma tells me they are all gearing up for a busy summer with graduations and weddings. I had some fun people stay at my house too! John and Jack Fletcher from Las Vegas, Nev.; Rex Fletcher brought some family fam-ily members Jaime, Jared and Jackie with him and also Zack and Jessica Ludvigsen tagged along for some hiking and fishing. fish-ing. Rosie Fletcher from Cedar City brought food so everyone was happy there. We are excited to see the progress being done on the building projects here in town. The lovely home of Clint and Stephanie Brinkerhoff and the new addition to Monte and Rita Twitchell's home are just two. I had a nice surprise the other day. I received a call from the Spectrum office telling me I had won two tickets to the Shakespearean plays this summer sum-mer for correctly identifying the picture of "The Cut" in the paper. It was quite easy since it was taken almost from our yard. I'm looking forward to "my night out on the town." Speaking of the news, I feel that Cannonville needs to be represented with a news column and since I don't know your news, I send in what I can. I would like to add a little bit more variety so please give me a call and let's all share news. |
