Show Ilsnrhvilh Hews By Wynona Henderson 679-8560 Lots of celebrations were held to commemorate Pioneer Day. A flag ceremony and ice cream social was held at the town park with all three towns participating. We were saddened to learn of the death of Ardell Dennett Martinez. She attended school here and grew up in Cannonville. We extend our sympathy to the families. Visiting with Sandy and Gary Johnson were Becca, Jed and son Braxton Albrecht of Minersville. They helped Sandy celebrate her birthday. Is this 29 Sandy? Ruth and Brady were here for Ruth's class reunion which was held at Ko-dachrome Ko-dachrome State Park. Doris Liles, Jerris and Bonnie Liles of Escalante, and Iris Bushnell took a trip to Hawthorne, Nev., to visit Deward and Revon Smith and their family. From there, they all traveled to California to the old mining town of Bowie, a very interesting in-teresting place with lots of museums. muse-ums. Next they traveled to see ghost towns and visited Virginia City and toured all the sights there. Doris said they had such a good time that the long stretches of desert des-ert went by fast. Helen and Bob Willis traveled to Richfield where they met Helen's brother Alfred Underwood and his wife Wanda for lunch and lots of catching up news. It was a very enjoyable en-joyable day for them. Speakers in LDS church were Clorene Vidrine and Don Coleman of Escalante and the high council. The ward choir sang a special number. num-ber. Marie Hayden was released as a counselor in the young womens program and Logann Eagar was sustained sus-tained as second counselor. Brandon and Emily Allen of Provo blessed their infant daughter and gave her the name of Ivy Constance. Con-stance. Grandpa Ken Allen of Pima, Ariz., was here for the special occasion. occa-sion. Other proud grandparents are Matt and Virginia Wetzel and Connie Con-nie Allen. Rae Smith went with Barbara and George Paris and spent the day in Escalante. She also attended the LDS missionary farewell of Derrick Shakespear with Dixie Shakespear of Tropic and son Rhett and wife Christine Shakespear on Sunday. Ernie Henderson took the senior van to Panguitch and Escalante on Wednesday and Thursday for Care and Share. Visitors at Ernie and Wynona Henderson's house were daughter Trish Dixon and her girls Danielle and Nicole DiSera of Magna and Dorsie, Lauren and Shelby Huffaker of Littleton, Colo. Dorsie also visited vis-ited her daughter and son-in-law Max and Logann Eagar who have recently moved to Henrieville. |
