Show GSMLMJTc fJGl'JS By Marlene Haws 826-4859 Not a lot of reports from deer hunters this week. When they went into the hills a lot of the deer came to town. I know because there was one big buck standing alongside the road at the bridge down by the old sawmill! Bryan Griffin must have come from Richfield to take his dad Bill Griffin out for the hunt. I saw his wife Sue Lynn in town on the weekend. Johnny Alvey came from Palmdale, Calif., to hunt and also to visit with his mom Betty Alvey. Mac Barney and his son came from Cedar City and Ray Barney Bar-ney and his son, Steve, came from Kaysville and visited with their mom Grace Barney. No reports of deer! Visiting at the home of Wade and Shelly Barney were their daughter and son-in-law, Candace and David Shakespear, from the Salt Lake area, and Berthene Griffin, Shelly's mom, from Henrieville. Norm Christensen spent the weekend with his five sons, Greg, Clyde, Gary, Keith and Cris, his son-in-law, Arthur Lyman and nine grandsons. They didn't hunt deer, they took their horses and went down the desert and just rode. They all agreed that they had more fun than if they had been hunting deer and that it was great just to spend the time together. Ross and Nadine Shelly were in town over the weekend. They came for their granddaughter's baptism. They are living in Vernal now. Greg and Paula Shakespear had some of Greg's family here for the weekend. They were here for a baptism also. Judy Green and daughter, Stephanie, of Mesquite, Nevada, visited at the home of Judy's parents, Dan and Lois Spencer. Chris and Jana Haycock, Cedar City, are the proud parents par-ents of a baby girl, Shelby Elaine. This makes Jimmy and Charlene Woolsey first-time grandparents. Gordon and Almeda Haycock are the great-grandparents great-grandparents and Stanley Haycock Hay-cock the great-great grandfather. . Congratulations to all! Jo Ett Marie Rex has been to Orem to help out after the birth of a new grandbaby. Con-gratu-lations to the Rex family also. Yoland Mclnelly, Mesa, Ariz., came with her husband, Dave, for the deer hunt. She spent her time at their home here while Dave hunted the hills. Twila Mclnelly ended up with the biggest deer out of the Mclnelly bunch. She is a pretty "game" hunter. I say that with tongue in cheek because of her age. But she doesn't let that stop her, she still likes to go and participate. Wayne Banks has been spending a little time at the Kolob Rehabilitation Center, in St. George, following knee sur gery. He had both knees replaced, was up on the second day and Pat reports that he has been a real trooper. He is getting get-ting around on them already and is doing fine. Determination is half the battle isn't it? He wants to go see his son and daughter-in-law in Tonga before they are released from their mission and Pat said she didn't want to wheel him around in a wheel chair for a visit like that. So Wayne wants to be in top form. Douglas Banks is serving as mission president in Tonga. Carl Davis, Cedar City, visited visit-ed at the home of Bill and Bev Kuhns recently. Before that Bev was seen with two black eyes. Needless to say, Bill took a lot of ribbing about that. Turns out she had eye surgery, so Bill was off the hook! |
