The boys came from towns all over Garfield County and Circleville, Junction Junc-tion and Maryvale to swim in the pool, shoot bows and BB guns and other fun summertime Scout activities. 1 Cubs Hold Wet 'n Wild Activity By Ryan Moore On June 5, more than 100 Cub Scouts and dozens of leaders gathered at Panguitch Pool and Panguitch City Park for Wet and Wild activities, The boys, ages 8 to 10, came from Cub Scout packs in Boulder, Escalante, Cannonville, Henrie- ville, Tropic, Bryce, Hatch. Panguitch, Pan-guitch, Circleville, Junction, and Marysvale. Melvin and Phyllis Beard had planned a full day of fun. - ' The boys were divided into schools of fish tuna, trout, (See CUB SCOUTS page 7A) CUB SCOUTS From Front Page barracuda, bass, salmon and cod. They had swimming activities in the pool, played pool basketball, shot bows and arrows (harpoons), and BB guns (fired the ship's cannons). They made sailboats, and had regatta races in rain gutters. Each boy packed a raw egg (depth charge) and dropped it from the grandstand. They also painted sea animal neckerchief slides and made bubble necklaces. They ate candy and Swedish fish, and earned a Water Fun patch and a squirting fish. Those who wore their uniforms received a surf board necklace. Everyone had a splashing good time. ' Their leaders included Herb Baugh who drove the bus, Gayle and Wade Moore (harpoons), Shawn Chynoweth (BB guns), Mel Beard (egg drop), Kay Dunham and Matthew Walker (arts and crafts), Miriam Nelson (pool activities), Eva Durfee and Ronda Barney (regatta), Ellie Joslin and Sandra Packer (opening games), and dozens of others who were also involved. |
