Show Public Meetings Set For Highway 12 Federal Status Bruce Fullmer, chairman ot tne Scenic Byway 12 All-American Road Designation Steering Committee Com-mittee has announced a series of public meetings across the county to share the planning process it has initiated and receive comments and suggestions from the public. The Scenic Byway 12 Ail-American Ail-American Road Designation Steering Steer-ing Committee is working to develop devel-op a Corridor Management Plan for Highway 12. The meetings are set as follows: Monday, July 9 at 7 p.m. at the Panguitch City Council Chambers, Cham-bers, 25 South 200 East, Panguitch Tuesday, July 10 at 7 p.m. at Bryce Valley High School, 721 -West Bryce Way, Tropic Wednesday, July 11 at 7 p.m. at the Escalante Community Center, Cen-ter, 89 North 100 West, Escalante Thursday, July 12 at 7 p.m. at the Boulder Community Center, 35 1 North 1 00 East, Boulder Thursday, July 2 at 7 p.m. at the Wayne High School Auditorium, Auditor-ium, 265 North 400 West, Bicknell The public is invited to attend any and all of the meetings to learn more about the project and to provide input to the process. Scenic byway designation at any level (local, state or federal) provides recognition of the special qualities and resources of a particular par-ticular byway and corridor. Highway High-way 12 currently has state scenic status. This official acknowledgment acknowledg-ment carries with it a heightened awareness of the route and recognition recog-nition of the communities that sought the designation. It can also carry with it special funding for the scenic byway and the corridor in which it lies. The steering committee organizing organ-izing the All-American Road Designation Desig-nation application includes: Garfield Gar-field and Wayne County Governments, Govern-ments, USDA Forest Service Dixie National Forest, Bryce Canyon and Capitol Reef National Parks, Bureau Bur-eau of Land Management Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, Monu-ment, Utah Farm Bureau, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, Utah Department of Transportation, Utah Travel Council, Federal Highway High-way Administration, Anasazi Indian Village State Park, and the communities com-munities of: Boulder, Escalante, Tropic, Cannonville and Henrie-ville. |
