Show CMMOrWILLU UGVJS By Marva Fletcher 679-8521 Golden Johnson took his wife Roxanna to Salt Lake City for a new type of test' on her heart. The test showed that her heart has improved but she is having trouble with diabetes. We hope she is soon feeling better. Melanie Palfreyman was baptized bap-tized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on her birthday, Sunday, by family friend Carlon Johnson. Mel and Phyllis Beard, along with Gayle Moore of Henrieville and Kathy Shakespeare of Tropic, attended a superb scout training in Orem on Saturday, Sept. 22. Visiting Cannonville LDS Ward on Sunday were Brent and Kathy Griffin and children and Dustin Shakespear and his grandfather, Vernon Spencer. Youth speaker was Sharlene Moss. She was followed by recently returned Elder Dustin Shakespear, who told some of his experiences in the mission field. Then ; Kathy Griffin played a beautiful piano solo, "Where Can I Turn For Peace?" High Council Representative Brent Griffin was the concluding conclud-ing speaker. The theme of the meeting was "The Sanctity of Womanhood." Ward business consisted of releasing Eric Jesson as Ward Missionary Leader. Many friends and neighbors attended the open house in Tropic to extend birthday wishes wish-es to Wallace Ott on his 90th birthday. The open house in the beautiful beauti-ful new home of John and Marsha Holland on Saturday in Tropic was also a happy event. There are not words to express the feelings as one looked out of the Holland home east windows and saw the breath-taking view of the Aquarius Plateau in all its glory. Think we were all pretty envious. They did a fine job of planning and building, doing much of the work themselves. Desmond and Gretha Twitchell received a letter from a close family friend, Beth Chynoweth, telling them that she will be running in a marathon at Disney World, 26.2 miles, on Jan. 6, 2002 to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The race will be in memory of the Twitchell's daughter, Judy Chynoweth, who died after a long and valiant fight with leukemia. Her team training partner is Cole Gray, a five-year-old boy from Alpine, Utah, who has leukemia. The purpose of the society is to further fur-ther research on a cure for Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkins Disease and Myeloma. On Saturday, Sept. 22, Larry and Glenna Fletcher and Alma and Anita Fletcher met their sister sis-ter and brother-in-law, Myrna and Mark Christensen and a happy couple and wedding party from Redford, Michigan, Cathryn Lynn Christensen and Nathan Lyman Thompson; the groom's parents, McAlden and Tyra Thompson and other family fami-ly and friends for a beautiful wedding the Bountiful LDS Temple. There were 130 people who attended the lovely luncheon lunch-eon following the ceremony. Bonnie Willis attended LDS Stake Conference in Panguitch on Sept. 16 and saw her son, KayMar Willis was called and set apart as a member of the Stake High Council and her grandson, Kyle Willis, ordained an elder. Kyle is a son of KayMar and Mary Jean Willis of Antimony. Bonnie also got to visit with her granddaughters, Kati and Kami. She went to Pipe Springs to visit Frank and Betty Bowman. Betty had received word that her sister had passed away and needed a friendly visit. She said to tell all of her friends in Garfield County "hello" for her. Bonnie also went to LaVerkin and visited visit-ed with her son, Steve and his wife, Louise and family. AC and Rita Hammer have a new grandson, Nicholas Wyatt Platter, born Sept. 19 to Jason and. Joy Platter of Olympia, Wash. Rita and her sister, Cathy, went to spend a few days and help them out. Enroute home they will visit another daughter, Carol Poole, before they arrive back home. She lives in southern California. |
