Show Area Obituaries JoAnne Heap Sawyer Goulding IIENR1EVILLE, Utah -JoAnne Heap Sawyer Goulding, i of Henrieville, Utah, passed jiciicelully after a prolonged illness ill-ness early Saturday morning, Apr. 17, 2004, at the Extended Care Unit of the Garfield County Memorial Hospital. JoAnne was born on June 24, WO, in Hatch, Utah, to James Garth and Theora Barnhurst , ! leap. She lived in Spry, Utah, until she was about 12 years old, then moved to Hatch. She intended school in Panguitch v here she was active in student government and cheerleading. She married Ronald Sawyer on June 15, 1957, in the St. George ) DS Temple. They made their home in Hatch for several years alter which they moved to Cedar City, Utah, in 1965. JoAnne's first husband, Ronald awyer, passed away on August 1'-). 1973. While in Cedar City, JoAnne worked at the Valley View Medical Center with the newborn new-born babies and was well respected by doctors, nurses and patients. On July 20, 1984, JoAnne married Kenneth Edwin Goulding, Jr., in Cedar City. They moved to Henrieville, Utah, where they made their home. JoAnne worked for several sev-eral years at Garfield County Memorial Hospital in , F inguitch. She moved into the cue center in October of 2000. JoAnne was a happy social individual and enjoyed spending time with her friends playing pinochle, chatting or just driving abound. She also loved spending lime with her family during reunions and other special occasions. occa-sions. The son of James S. And Hultie McQuay Patterson, he was born Sept. 29, 1927 in Bainbridge, Ohio. He married l is sweetheart, Louise Sprague on Oct. 17, 1948 in Las Vegas, Nev. They were later sealed for l ine and all eternity on Jan. 5, IV56 in the St. George LDS Temple. He loved her twice as much as she loved him (as he always said). Preceding him in death are his mother and father, his oldest son, Lynn Allen Patterson and a nephew, Sgt. Keith A. Patterson. He is survived by his beloved v.'ife Louise; four children, Linda A. Patterson of Henrieville, L. Ann Patterson of Los Vegas, Nev, Kathleen ' Merson LeRoy of Henrieville, .!'. 1 Kevin E. JoAnne is survived by her husband, Kenny Goulding, Henrieville; her father Garth Heap, Hatch; two brothers: Wallace (Marilyn) Heap and Donald (Deanna) Heap, both of Hatch; five children: Cindy Sawyer, Orem; Dallin (Bev) Sawyer, Cedar City; Lynette (Todd) Ballif, Kaysville; Paula (Bruce) Wilcox, Payson; Sheral (Joel) Wilson, Spanish Fork; and 12 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ronald Sawyer, and her mother, Theora Barnhurst Heap. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Apr. 21, 2004 at the Panguitch LDS 3rd Ward Chapel. Officiating was son Dallin Garth Sawyer; presiding was Robert Patterson Patterson of St. George, Jordan Patterson of Evanston, Wyo., and Luke H. Patterson of Buckeye, Ariz; six great-grandchildren, Alexandra Nicole Patterson, Jacie Lynn Patterson, Lauren Ann Patterson, Kyrell Donn Patterson, Draylie Shumway, and Lexxi Slavens; a brother, James T. (Pauline) Patterson of McArthur, Ohio and a sister, Maryon Woods of Chillicothe, Ohio. He served his country in Kathren Ann Garrard PERRY, Okla. PANGUITCH, PANGUI-TCH, Utah Kathren Ann Garrard, 21, of Perry, Okla., passed away Apr. 18, 2004, in Perry. She was born July 10, 1982, in Panguitch, Utah, to T homas L. and Dellis Jane Elmer Garrard. Kathren is survived by her three children, Damon Lee Elmer, Jessica Fae Elmer and Elicia Marie Elmer, Perry, Okla.; parents, Thomas L. And Jane Garrard; and Dellis Jane Elmer Garrard and Rocky Jack; brothers and sisters, John Brian Elmer; Thomas James Garrard; Amanda Ann Elmer, Auston D. Jack, Emma Marie Jack, Alicia Mae Jack, all of Panguitch; and Jeremy Jack and Maria Jack, of Nebraska; grandparents, James and Velma J. Elmer, and Kay Garrard, all of Panguitch; and teat-grandma, Dellis LeFevre, Panguitch. She vvas preceded in death by her grandpas, Thomas A. Garrard and Ozro LeFevre. The family prayer was offered by Wallace Heap, a brother, with prelude and postlude music by Ferrol Dene Baldwin. The invocation was given by son-in-law Bruce Wilcox followed fol-lowed by a musical selection, "Somewhere My Love" by former for-mer bishop Ken Piatt. He was accompanied by Collette Mathew. Daughter Cindy Sawyer gave a life sketch. Son-in-law Joel Wilson and daughter-in-law Bev Sawyer sang "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" accompanied by Hazel Jean Robinson. Tributes were offered by Carolyn Hinton, a friend, and by daughter Paula Wilcox. The grandchildren sang "Jesus Said Love Everyone" and "I Feel My Saviors Love" accompanied by Bev Sawyer. A tribute was given next by Don Heap, a brother, followed by remarks by son Dallin Sawyer. Ferrol Dene Baldwin accompanied accom-panied the congregation singing "God Be With You 'Til We Meet Again" directed by May Sawyer. The benediction was offered Dick Goulding a brother-in-law. Pallbearers were Ron Sawyer, Todd Ballif, Bruce Wilcox, Joel Wilson, Dave Pollock, Steve Goulding, Dick Goulding, Travis Hellquist and Mike Johnson Honorary pallbearers included includ-ed Garth Heap, Trevor Wilcox, Sawyer Wilson and Justin Jolley Burial was at the Hatch Cemetery where the grave was dedicated by Todd Ballif a son-in-law. Funeral Directors, Neal S. Magleby & Sons Mortuary, Richfield, Utah. Thomas Artess Garrard PANGUITCH, Utah -Thomas Artess Garrard, passed away Apr. 14, 2004. He was born June 28, 1923 in Crossville, Ala., to Leonard and Mary Garrard, now deceased. He married Kay (Katherine) Kelso on Aug. 6, 1950 in Yuma, Ariz. He served his country during . World War II and the Korean conflict. After leaving the service serv-ice he went to work as a civilian for the Department of Defense at North Island Naval Air Station in San Diego, Calif. He saved the taxpayer millions of dollars through his beneficial suggestions sugges-tions on cost savings. He retired in 1973 after 30 years and moved to Utah. Thomas will be missed by all his family and friends who always understood him as the "Pillar on the Mountain". He was a hardworking man as seen by the work on his land (Rocky Pines Ranch). The mountains became too hard to climb and he passed from this world to another anoth-er of eternal peace. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Gary Garrard of San Diego, Calif., and Thomas L. Garrard of Las Vegas, Nev.; two grandchildren, Thomas James and Kathren Ann Garrard of Las Vegas, Nev.; and great-great grandchildren, Damond Lee, Jessica Fae, and Felicia Marie Garrard. He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts, uncles, and in-laws. Private memorial services will be held at a later date in San Diego, Calif. |
