Show Panguitch Lions Hold Annual Steak Fry By Earl Roe PANGUITCH - The Panguitch Lions Club held its ; annual steak fry at Henrie's ; Ranch earlier in the month. The event was well attended by club members and their guests. The food was excellent. Rick Irish and Mac Oetting did a fine job with the steaks and Troy Pollock put out some excellent dutch oven potatoes and onions. Others provided the com on the cob, salads, pies and cakes and the drinks and everyone who had a hand in the affair deserves a big vote of thanks. Prior to dinner, Lion President Art Cooper called a business meeting. After the Pledge of Allegiance, the reading read-ing of the minutes and the financial finan-cial report, Cooper informed members of upcoming events and then opened the meeting to discussion from members. Lion Grant Warnick motioned that the club donate $800 to the new football team to purchase helmets. Since it had already been passed on by the club's finance committee, the motion was acted upon immediately and passed. Lioness Janice Henrie then moved that the club donate $200 to the Panguitch . Elementary (Flying Eagles) 4th Grade to help with more improvements on their outdoor classroom which has been developed under the guidance of their teacher, Marilyn Bulkley. The issue had not been before the finance committee, but due to the immediate need of the funds, the motion was accepted by the members and passed. The meeting was then adjourned and members got down to the important impor-tant task of eating. In the past the club has had some complaints that too many fund-raising events are held, but members feel that the two above decisions are good examples of where the money goes. With the club's final breakfast break-fast for the year at the Triple C arena, the annual Birthday Calendar campaign will be last remaining fund raiser for the year. Members can now relax a little until the busy holiday season sea-son activities begin. The Triple C breakfast will likely prove to be the best patronized ever. The local 4-H leaders requested that the Panguitch Lions do the breakfast for the Utah State 4-H Horse Show and members were glad to do it, serving from 7:30 until 11:30 a.m. in a steady stream. There were many compliments on the food, the service and the fact that the participants and spectators could watch all of the events and still have time to have breakfast. Some would get their plates and go back into the arena to eat. The hot, dry summer was good for the club's aluminum can, scrap aluminum, copper, and brass project, but since no one in our area processes plastics, plas-tics, those who help donate for the project could be more helpful help-ful it they would throw plastics (and trash) in the regular trash bins. |
