Show Hospital Fund Raiser: Dinner Was A Social, Financial Success PANGUITCH - Friday evening's annual Hospital Foundation Dinner was a resounding success both financially finan-cially and socially. Dinner was prepared and served by the dedicated ded-icated and talented dietary kitchen staff at Garfield Memorial Hospital who had a chance to demonstrate their fine culinary skills for nearly 350 guests. Filled to overflowing and relaxed, the crowd listened to a brief report on the state of health care in our nation, the successes of the local Foundation board and a special verbal thank you was paid to board chairman Marjorie Da-vies. Guests then enjoyed the entertaining tunes and light humor of Lynn and Michael Griffin. Following the entertainment the silent auction was closed and door prizes were announced. Successful Silent Auction Bidders Items, in the silent auction included two prints donated by Rubys Inn. The Tim Cox western west-ern print was purchased by Al Whalen and the Washington at Valley Forge was taken home by Renae Walters. A Shakespearean evening package in Cedar City with theater tickets, tick-ets, a tank of gas by KB Express, dinner at Applebee's and lodging at the El Rey Inn compliments of Doug Knell was bid and won by David Martin of Panguitch. Cindy Johnson successfully suc-cessfully bid on a queen size pale blue hand-quilted quilt by the Circleville Quilt Ladies. A horseshoe design bathroom fixture fix-ture set donated by R & R Welding was successfully bid on by Vinnie Salvato. The family portrait, matted and framed by Bryce Photo and Julie Chidester was taken home by Russell Bulkley. The silent auction items alone brought in some $1200. Door Prize Winners ' Panguitch resident Cindy Josie was elated at winning the top door prize valued at over $390 which was a two-day shopping spree to Cedar City. The package included one night's lodging at the Comfort fnn, breakfast at Denny's, a $25 gift card at Smiths Market, a $40 gift certificate at Jolley's Ranchwear, lunch at Applebee's, gift certificates for $30 at Christensens and TUNEX Automotive Specialists, a $25 gift card at Wal Marts, a $30 gift card at ; Lin's Market dinner at Milt's Stage Stop or Rusty's Ranch House and theater tickets at the Westates Theaters. Special dinner guests of Dwayne and Joann Harkleroad of Tropic and McDowell, Va., Carl and Marsha Ward of Page, Ariz., in the spirit of a fund raiser rais-er event, donated one night's lodging at their Best Western Arizona Inn in Page as an added door prize. The lodging was won by an excited Jim Carroll of Panguitch. Other winners included Angie Griffin, a Uniden 900 ,Mhz cordless phone, South Central Communications; Faye Worthen, a night's lodging, at Rubys Inn; Ned Richards, a Uniden cordless phone, South Central Communications; Earl Henrie, a night's lodging at Rubys Inn; and Rena Cole won a night's lodging at Blue Springs Lodge at Panguitch Lake. Cindy Coombs and Marsha Ward won handcrafted clocks by Cal Davies of Panguitch; Tom Hartsfiefd, an embroidered gift towel set by Debbie Hatch of Panguitch; Lynn Griffin won dinner for two at Foster's Steakhouse and Carl Ward won dinner for two at Big Rock Candy Mountain Cafe. In an exciting twist the two . new female LDS missionaries invited to the dinner both took home excellent prizes, Sister Neville dinner for two at the Rustic Lodge at Panguitch Lake and Sister Handley two tickets to the Shakespearean Festival in Cedar City, donated by Faye Worthen. They will give the young ladies great memories of their stay in Panguitch. Ernie Henderson took home dinner for two at the Bear Paw Lake View Resort at Panguitch Lake; Michelle Holbrook a gift certificate for $25 from the Owens Brothers Panguitch Lake General Store; Gerald Stock won $25 in merchandise from the Eagle Stop Texaco and Dave Jacobs also $25 in merchandise at Mangums Mini Mart-Tesoro. Irene Cooper and John M. Henrie won matching prizes of $25 certificates, a cap and tote bag from Garkane Energy, Inc.; Helen Burrows- two tickets Westates' Theater in Cedar City; Bob Benfield,'$25 gift certificate certifi-cate Stan's hlerc in Circleville and Joann Miller won six free movie rentals at the Circleville RVPark Tracy Armstrong will get to know Barbara and Gayle at Bryce Canyon Trading Post as he shops with his $50 gift certificate cer-tificate and Mabel Harris was equally excited about her $50 win of a gift certificate at Red Canyon Indian Store. Barney Shannon and Joanne Harkleroad won the two meals deals at Arby's each valued at $15 and Rick Swanger and Megan Fletcher each won a $25 oil change at Ed Mock's Royal Express Transmission. Daniel Thompson won a $50 cash prize also from Ed Mock's Royal Express Transmission; Pam Bagnell took home some unique shelves made by Jack Soper of Panguitch and Pastor David Payne won a paperweight compliments of Serenidad Galley of Escalante. |
