We have thoroughly enjoyed the rain these past few days and hope it keeps on coming. I even sat through it a downpour at a BYU football game. For a very brief second I wanted it to stop so I wouldn't get so wet, but then I came to my senses and said I was only kidding; keep it coming. I don't even mind the sticky mud ... well, maybe a little lit-tle bit. Dixie Shakespear had her son, Ed Shakespear of Escalante and his wife Camille come and spend a Saturday with her. They brought Vernon Spencer of Escalante with them and they all enjoyed a great dinner prepared by Ed. He even fixed his special peach pie. The next day Devin and Dallon Shakespear, sons of Ed and Camille and grandsons of Dixie, came over to visit. Dixie's brother Heber Hall, Salt Lake City, came down to visit. He spent some time in Boulder and on his way home he spent a day with Dixie for a very nice visit. Betty Wintch is home after surgery and is beginning to feel better each day. She still has a way to go but feels so much better bet-ter about it. It is good to talk to her and hear her cheerful voice. Hope she gets to writing her poetry for us soon. Get well Betty, we miss you. Adrian and Glenna Pollock and Obie and June Shakespear have had company these past few days. Maybe they'll share some information with me for the next news article. On Sept. 27, Gail and Bonnie Miles will fly with their friends, Doug and Sue Benson, Midvale, to New York City where they will spend two days sightseeing before boarding a ship to set out on an eight-day historyfall foliage cruise. They will then go to Boston Harbor with an emphasis empha-sis on historic Boston and Cambridge. After that they will sail to Bar Harbor, Maine, and Acadia National Park. From there they go to Halifax, Nova Scotia, Peggy's Cove, Prince Edward 's Island, St. Lawrence Seaway and into Quebec with Montreal being the last city on the cruise. Sept. 11 was a very special day with all the memories of a year ago and listening to the people who were involved tell their stories. It made you feel grateful for this beautiful and great country we live in and the togetherness that was felt. Dixie Shakespear spent a day in Cedar City with her daughter Betty Hepworth, Panguitch, and her granddaughter Dixie Edwards where they shopped and had a very special day together. |
