All Local Post Offices Ready For Food Drives Saturday PANGUITCH Hanguitch Postmaster Dennis Armstrong announced an-nounced plans this week for all postal branches in Garfield County to participate in the nationwide na-tionwide food drive in conjunction with the Garfield County Annual Care and Share Food Drive. Local post offices are the sites to drop off canned items from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 10. All items collected in the county will remain in the county to help out friends and neighbors going through difficult times. No homemade canned or baked good should be included. Items such as canned meats, tuna, beans, soup, etc. would be appreciated as donations. do-nations. Letter carriers nationwide will likewise pick up donated items at every participating household na tionwide on Saturday. Representatives of the local Care and Share program in Garfield Gar-field County will pick up the items at the end of the day on Saturday, as all donated food stays within the confines of Garfield Gar-field County. The overall event is the combined com-bined effort of the National Association Asso-ciation of Letter Carriers, the U.S. Postal Service, the AFL-CIO and the local United Way. The drive is dedicated to 134,000 children in the state of Utah exposed to hunger each day. Last year Utah letter carriers collected 329,000 pounds of food, enough to provide 112,000 meals for hungry Utah children and adults. The Letter Carriers Food Drive is the largest single-day food drive in the nation. na-tion. '4 |
