Show PHS Girls Stop Badgers By John Yardley In their biggest game of the year to this point, Panguitch girls defeated de-feated Wayne 61 - 50 in a shootout of the league's best two teams. In a hard-fought game, PHS led 29-25 at the half, the two top teams gave each other about all they could take. The Bobcats finally pulled out to a 10-pointlead with three minutes to play in the final quarter and then played even for the victory. Camile Christensen poured in 26, but got plenty of help from Shelly Hatch and Lisa Duff with the offense as " they hit for 15 each. Wayne's stellar stel-lar junior Kali Taylor scored 20 and Merianne Ellett made 13. " Panguitch won one and lost one at SUU on Friday and Saturday. The Bobcats beat Canyon View for the second time this year 48 - 35 as Christensen nailed 13 and Hatch 12. All the girls contributed on Saturday, Satur-day, as the Lady cats ran out of gas and fell to another 3-A team as Cedar Ce-dar stopped them 45 - 39. Three games in two and a half days proved to be a little too much. The team's depth was hurt as sophomore Alison Al-ison Yardley was lost for the season with a serious knee injury last weekend at Kanab. In other girls games, Bryce Valley Val-ley had one of their better performances perform-ances before losing to Milford 52 -39. Sheena Clark drilled 16 points to lead her team. Escalante's box score was unavailable this week. |
