Show Escalante Events Marilyn Jackson April showers came to dampen the dust and turn the valley green. Over one and one-half inches of moisture fell in the storm. Mr. and Mrs. Gail Bailey returned re-turned from Arizona, Dennis Lott came from Louisiana to spend a few days preparing farms for irrigation. Montel Jordan is home after several weeks in Michigan. She toured the state and tells of the beauty there. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Spencer traveled to Salt Lake City for the weddings of two of their grandchildren. grandchil-dren. Shane Clark, son of their daughter Linda Rae Clark of West Valley, was married Friday, and Cory Haun, son of daughter Wilma Haun, was married Saturday. They also visited with daughter Dorothy Valentine whose son Russell Palmer recently entered the LDS Chile mission. Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Coleman learned of two new great-grandchildren. Son, Douglas Mclnelly had the privilege of blessing and naming nam-ing both babies who are his grandchildren. grand-children. The Kaylin Mclnnellys of Page, Ariz., have a new baby son , named Kyle, and Douglas' daughter Marlene Christensen and husband of Richfield have a new baby daughter named Kelsey. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Liston had a visit from daughter Lana Lord who brought husband Don and children Melissa and Jeff from La Canada, Calif., for a week. They have purchased the ListonBoyd Rucker home and came to check on it. Sisters Debbie Lyman and Jan is Gledhill took children Nathan Lyman Ly-man and Rochelle Gledhill and drove to Texas for funeral services of their father Ernest Hill who passed away last Monday. Mr. Hill was formerly employed as a driller with the oil wells in our area. Townspeople also learned of the death of Marie Schow Bigler, wife of former high school principal Horace J. Bigler. She was born in Tropic and passed away in Salt Lake City at age 83. The community is saddened at the death of beloved LDS Patriarch Lorenzo Griffin who passed away Saturday in the Orem area. Mr. and Mrs. Orvil Cowles were in St. George for medical appointments, appoint-ments, then accompanied the Senior Citizen bus to Richfield. The Ivan Willises also went to St. George for Ivan's eye checkup. He is doing exceptionally well and can resume driving. The Elwood Willis family came for the weekend and shared their visit with the LoRell Munson family. Also at the Munson home were Mr. and Mrs. Stanford Munson Mun-son of Trenton and Mr. and Mrs. Dee Nelson of West Valley. The Reed Munsons had Mrs. Munson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl McEwen of Ogden and her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Bishop , of Layton as visitors. They were on hand to share the joy of Reed's appointment ap-pointment as bishop of the newly established Second Ward. To witness LDS assignments of Jim Smith and Wayne Reynolds were Mr. and Mrs. Lark Reynolds of Cannonville and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Smith Sr., of Henrieville, and Wayne's sisters Susan Shakespear and Elaine Shakespear. Mr. and Mrs. Eric Woolsey spent the weekend in California visiting the Michelangelo relatives. The library committee reports steady progress. They still need more books and hope to have a community library in Escalante soon. Home from the hospital are Hank Bolton, Rex Masters and Virginia Dane. Mr. and Mrs. Walt Bell have been in California keeping keep-ing medical appointments there. Joy Carter was recently hospitalized- . . , Mr. and Mrs. Theron Mitchell and Mr. and Mrs. Don Coleman went to Ely to see the Kevin Robi-son Robi-son family. Lillian Coleman made the wedding cake for Kevin's cousin who was married there. The Rick Woolseys and Michelle Marsh met at the Sharon Dale Marsh home for the weekend. Car-lyle Car-lyle Shurtz came from Sandy for the weekend. Also home were the family of Superintendent Jerald Judd and Pratt Gates who is helping with the trail rides in Zion's Canyon. Jonathan Cowles, oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Cowles of Casper, Wyo., made grandparents the Orvil Cowleses and CTiase Shurtzes proud. He recently won first place in his school, first place in the district and second place in the Science Fair where he exhibited salt castles made with different bases and different solutions. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Haycock have a new grandson born to Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Haycock in Salt Lake City. Trevor James haycock is their third son and arrived April 9 which coincidentally is the birthday of his late great-grandmother Clarice Griffin. His arrival makes 14 grandchildren for the Stan Haycocks. Hay-cocks. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Kuhns returned re-turned from California where they attended the wedding of their son Jim Kuhns who exchanged vows with Molly Morgan in a gala Mexican-style wedding with all the trimmings. Glen Moosman has announced the republishing of his book "Christian Moosman a Noble Ancestor." An-cestor." He hopes to have the books available this summer. Mr. and Mrs w, in Provo this wj? children.
