Show PHS Sophomore From Space AcaP With his eye on a career in aviation, 15 year old Justin Fischer, a sophomore at Panguitch High School, recently returned from the United States Space Academy, Level n, in Huntsville, Ala. The 10-day program, accredited for one hour of college credit in science, included 20 young people in Justin's group from as widely divergent areas as Alaska and Puerto Rico. They received sound academic instruction, authentic astronaut training procedures, and an opportunity to explore future careers by talking with cunent space professionals. The training curriculum for Level II is patterned from NASA crew training manuals and is performed in facilities designed from astronaut training simulators. It consists of many classes, field trips and simulators. There were three tracks into which the group was divided: aerospace, engineering and technical. Justin was in the aerospace track where students focused on the foundation needed for a potential aerospace engineer, shuttle commander or pilot, or aviation career. missions w served the pa positional the final m hours.
