Show American Legion Auxiliary Sponsors Contest At Schools PANGUITCH The American Legion Auxiliary recently sponsored spon-sored an essay contest entitled "A Day In The Life Of Our Country's Flag." One hundred fifty students, third grade through high school participated. partici-pated. Receiving $5 awards from the Panguitch Unit 25 in the overall over-all winner category were Cameron Henrie, 3rd and 4th grades; David Henric, 7th and 8th grades; Brandon Boshell, 9th and 10th grades; and Heidi Christy, 11th and 12th grades. Those essays were sent on to the District, which includes all of southern Utah where David Henrie and Brandon Boshell each took first place and each received a $15 check. They were both sent on to State and national with a possibility possi-bility of winning $50. Other first place winners, each receiving $2 from the post were Candace Crofts, Kayla Riggs, William J. Riggs, Heidi Woolsey, Paula Talbot, Devon Crow, Brandy Owens, and Mike Handley. The auxiliary also recently completed com-pleted the poppy poster contest with 50 fourth graders from Panguitch Elementary participating. They are all on display on Main Street at the Napa Auto Parts store. Sean Foster was the overall winner. He received $5 and the poster was sent on to the state for judging. Two first place winners are Derrick Veater and Joyce Marie Lee, each receiving $2. Certificates went to Rippl Dcsai, Maggie Burrows, Sara Baird, Jade Walter, and Rustin Owens. These contests are sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary and are designed to teach and promote patriotism and pride in our flag, veterans, and country. The auxilary appreciates the help of the schools and teachers in this effort. |
