Show LoseevilleTo Receive Marker TROPIC The Pahreah Camp of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers will dedicate a marker at the fomer townsite of Loseeville on Saturday, May 27, 1995 at 2 p.m. Loseeville, originally called Clifton, was settled in 1886 by Isaac Losee, Orville Cox, Ephraim Caffall, John Allen, William J. Stinger, Thomas Healy, William J. (See Loseevile Receives Marker On Page 3A) Loseeville From Page One Powell, Aaron Lewis, J.A. Tippits, Elias Smith, Jacob Kocherhans and others. Within 10 years it was abandoned aban-doned because of lack of water. This project took organizers several years to complete. Local boy scouts participated in clean-up efforts and in placing the fence around the site. Seven gravesites were identified and it is believed others, unidentified sites, are buried there also. Two state DUP officials will attend along with local people. who have labored on the project Everyone is encouraged to attend the dedication ceremony. Members will meet at 2 p.m. on the 27th at the marker located east of Tropic off Hwy 12 toward the BV hilll. Participants should continue east in that direction past the BV approximately one half mile. The marker can be seen on the north side of the highway. A special invitation is extended ex-tended to all the descendents of those early pioneers and a special thanks due to those who were instrumental in-strumental in seeing the project through to completion. |
