Show ...,... i .,., .,i,...- i j 1 l I I I Stephanie Henrie I I Andrea Howard Panguitch High Juniors Will Attend Girls State Representing the local American Legion Auxiliary at Girls State in June will be Andrea Howard, daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Clark Howard, and Stephanie Henrie, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Terry Henrie. The two young women, both juniors at Panguitch High School, will attend the week-long activity set for June 10-15 at Southern Utah University in Cedar City. Each will have a definite and integral in-tegral part in the Girls State function func-tion which is designed to teach that the American form of government demands an intelligent citizenry and clean, honest, impartial administration administra-tion from all public officials. They will have an opportunity to observe problems of government and elect their own officials from governor on down. j They will have their own legislature where they will present and argue their own bills. They will have their own laws, enforced by themselves. They apply and are appointed and elected to various appointive ap-pointive and elective offices They hold court with girls serving as judges, lawyers and jury and trying actual cases. They set up their own city and county government and pass and enforce ordinances. The American Legion Auxiliary sponsors the annual event to inculcate incul-cate a sense of individual obligation j to community, state and nation. |
