Show Escalante Readies For Fat Tire Adventure June 7-9 The county's Second Annual Fat Tire Adventure gets underway Friday Fri-day at Escalante where Escalante Outfitters, the community's new "outdoor needs" specialty shop which is serving as signup headquarters for shuttles reports residents and merchants have been making ready for the year's biggest tourist season event Mountain bikers can register and sign up for shuttles to some of the west's most spectacular trails for riding. Shuttles to and from trail staging areas will be running all three days. Joining trail guides from the Wasatch Front will be local guides Dr. Jeff Lish and Dennis Moser. Escalante is sponsoring a Friday night street dance at 8 p.m. ($5 singles, $8 couples) with a live band. Saturday night's Dutch-oven dinner at the park catered by the Ross Shelley family is also open to the public with reservations requested re-quested by Friday night.. Barry Bernards said Tuesday that bad weather could bring some last minute changes on bike-ready trails. Six separate trails and variations are tempting riders from all over the west to take part. Hell's Backbone (intermediate), North Creek-Pine Creek (single track intermediate). Guides will help with the more difficult, controlled con-trolled rides and other trails will be staked out for easy following. The Fat Tire Adventure rotates around the county, locating in a different scenic section each year. A drawing will be held for the grand prize, a new mountain bike.
