Show I I By Ella Adair 679-8648 Spring has arrived, people are cutting lawns, cleaning yards and getting their gardens ready to plant. The fruit trees are in blossom, making mak-ing us all aware of the beauty of the season. Margaret M. Mecham enjoyed an overnight visit from son, Bud Mecham, from Heber City. Kimberly Talbot gave an excellent excel-lent report of her mission in Chile. Family members coming to hear her were her father, Doug Talbot, brother Ryan Talbot, grandparents Mayo and Hazel Rich; Ethel Rich, Mary Jo Gilles and Randi Miller as well as many friends from Pangui-tch Pangui-tch and Brigham Young University. Members of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers held their meeting meet-ing Monday. Clella Littlefield gave the lesson "Letters of Pioneers." Rachael Jolley gave the history. Margaret Mecham and Ella Adair were hostesses. Tosha Button is staying with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E.R. Shakespear, until school is out. Mr. and Mrs. Leon Parkinson spent four days visiting with relatives rela-tives in Tropic. They also attended funeral services for Olaf Shakespear, Shake-spear, a cousin. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Chynoweth spent Easter weekend in Kanab with all of their children and grandchildren. grandchil-dren. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Seiler, Salt Lake City, visited with their son Jean Seiler. Mike Wintch visited his brothers, broth-ers, Kent and Dean Wintch. The Tropic LDS Ward Sunday School presented a special Easter program Sunday moming. A missionary mis-sionary farewell for Joey Stewart was held in Sacrament meeting. Spending the Easter weekend with Ella Adair were Mr. and Mrs. Greg Miles, Las Vegas; Mr. and Mrs. Kip Ferris, Cedar City; and Mr. and Mrs. Gail Miles. The senior citizen dinner will be Friday at noon at the Scout House. Erna Casebolt has her daughter, Andrea McCormick and family from Texas, staying with her until she is well. Tropic's own math teacher, Brian Phelps, has returned home with his new bride. We wish them both much happiness. Slate Stewart and Clinton Brinkerhoff were ordained teachers and Matthew Shakespear and Kenneth Ken-neth Pollock were ordained priests in the Tropic LDS Ward. The David Pollocks made a trip to Salt Lake City to meet their son Trevor just returning from an LDS mission in Spain. Ward Mangum, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hobson, Mr. and Mrs. Kay Mangum, Missy, Amy and Willy Mangum and Milt Hokason were in Tropic for the Tawn Mangum wedding reception. Tropic's girls basketball team recently won second place in a tournament at Piute. Congratulations, Congratula-tions, girls. It is good to see both Minnie Nielsen and Erna Casebolt home from the hospital. The Price Allreds have moved back to Tropic for the summer. David and Debbie Jensen visited at the Arthur Syrett home for the Easter weekend. Laughter and squeals filled the air as 123 children, ages toddler through 10 years, scampered and ran around the Cannonville Park at the first annual Bryce Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt. Bonnie Willis and other Lions Club members will be long remembered for this successful suc-cessful activity. |
