Show Handicapped Legal Center Now Opened The Legal Center for the Handicapped has opened an office in Cedar City to provide services for people throughout Garfield and Kane Counties. Services provided by the agency fall into two categories, Protection and Advocacy (P & A), and the Client Assistance Program (CAP). Protection and Advocacy assists people who are developmentally disabled ensure that their rights are protected. P & A counsels peopole with developmental disabilities in a variety of areas, including their rights with respect to education and social security benefits. The Client Assistance Program helps applicants who are clients of the Division of Rehabilitation Services or the Division of Services for the Visually Handicapped un derstand all the services those agencies can provide. It also helps vocational rehabilitation clients understand their rights, investigates problems clients may be having with their rehabilitation programs and works toward solving those problems. If it becomes necessary, CAP will assist and represent vocational rehabilitation clients in the appeals process. The Legal Center for the Handicapped is a non-profit, federally funded organization. |
