Show Big Load Topples Street Pole A light pole was toppled at the corner of Center and Main just after 8:30 Monday morning when a giant carrier with an oversize load pulled the cable supporting the pole. Officer Than Cooper cited the driver, Nils LeRoy Pettis, Grand Junction, Colo, who was driving for DelGarno Transportation Corp., Grand Junction, for his oversize load. A companion vehicle, carrying a similar load had successfully turned the comer and Pettis thought his rig could make it, too when the accident took place. The Pettis vehicle and companion carrier were transportating mud tanks for Loffland Brothers to a drilling site located near Kanab Creek south of Tropic Reservo'r. |
