Show Anasazi State Village To Note First 10 Years at Observance BOULDER Anasazi Indian Village State Historical Monument, located near Boulder, will celebrate its 10th anniversary July 26. The monument was dedicated in July of 1970. Its purpose is to display, as well as to protect, the archeological site and the artifacts excavated from it. A small museum displays the artifacts. The site has had stabilization work conducted during the last few summer seasons, and protective shelters will be built over portions of the site this summer. The staff at the monument has extended an invitation to visitors who may be interested in sharing in the "small celebration. They will be serving contemporary Indian foods such as homemade torillas, corn soup, Pueblo sweet bread pudding, and a drink. They will also have people on hand to demonstrate primitive skills such as flint-knapping and fire-building. Visitors may also want to try their hand at grinding corn with a metate and mano. Activities will start at 9 a.m. and will continue through the day until closing at 7 p.m. |
