Show Itoland Porter Roland Porter ESC ALANTE Roland Porter, 83, Escalante, died March 17, 1980 in a Provo hospital. He was bom September 2, 1896, Escalante, to Jared Riley and Alice Lavina Griffin Porter. He married Mina Haws September 14, 1917 in Panguitch, later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. He taught school in Boulder and Escalante 45 years. He also served as principal and basketball coach during this time. He served two years on the Garfield County School Board. Survivors: widow, Escalante; four sons, four daughters, Mrs. W. A. (Velma) Boulter, Mrs. Kenneth (Marie) Girffin, Roland Haws, all Provo; Merrial D., Bobby Lynn, Mrs. Dave (Yoland) Mclnelly, all Mesa, Ariz. ; Vergean, Escalante, Mrs. Floyd (Maxine) Horrocks, Roosevelt; 31 grandchildren and 34 great - grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 22 at 1 p.m. in the Escalante LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the chapel in Escalante after 11 a.m. on Saturday morning. Burial will be in the Escalante Cemetery by Neal S. Magleby and Sons Mortuary, Richfield. CARD OF THANKS We would like to express our sincere appreciation to everyone. Your loving support, in the death of our son and brother, Brad, will long be remembered. We also greatly appreciate the donations to the Padap Institute, the funds collected will truly benefit their program. Pat, Bobbi, Trisha & Darren Coughlin Recti Smoot Jucltl Reed Smoot Judd, 77, Panguitch, died March 14, 1980 in a Provo hospital. He was born September 22, 1902, Panguitch, to Richard and Phoebe Malinda Sevy Judd. He married Sylvia Linford July 26, 1923 in Panguitch, later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a life-lcng resident of Panguitch, past Garfield County Farm Bureau president; served as presidenet of the West Panguitch Irrigation Co., served as watermaster for that company nine years; was a federal agricultural inspector eight years, was currently employed by the U. S. Forest Service; active in all LDS Church auxiliaries and was in the high priest quorum. He was a retired , farmer and rancher. Survivors: widow, Panguitch; one son, three daughters, J.R. Lander, Wyo.; Eloise Heaps, Orem; Mrs. Leland (Minnie Lou) Beckstrom, Tooele; Mrs. Larry (Judy) Garner, West Point; brother, sister, James S. Judd, Mrs. Eccles (Nell) Cameron, both Provo; 13 grandchildren, 16 great -grandchildren. Funeral services were held March 17 in the Panguitch Second LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop F. Carl Farnsworth officiating. Bishop J. R. Judd offered the family prayer and Hope Truman and Barbara Orton played prelude and postlude music. Leland Beckstrom offered the invocation. Speakers were Foyer Olsen and Robert Linford with tribute by Dan R. Heap and remarks by Bishop Carl Farnsworth. Music included two selections by the Tri Ward Choir, musical selection by Hope Truman, Barbara Orton and Barbara Heaton, vocal duet by Ruth Linford and Ruth Hansen. Bishop Kern Owens offered the benediction. Burial was in the Panguitch Cemetery by NealS. Magleby and Sons Mortuary, Richfield, where Konroy Henrie offered the dedicatory prayer. Pallbearers were Dan Heap, Richard Heap, Ron Heap, Steven Beckstrom, Byron Linford and Gary Orton. Sarah Elizu Rose HENRIEVILLE Sarah Eliza Rose, 94, died March 13, 1980 in an Oklahoma City hospital. She was born Sept. 5, ' 1885, Paragonah, to Stephan S. and Eliza Hoy I Smith Barton. She was i married to Moroni Franklin Savage in the St. i George LDS Temple. He j died in June of 1913. She was married to Lawrence Rose in Beaver. He died I April 2, 1971. i She was a retired school teacher and ran a i general merchandise and grocery store for 50 years i in Henrieville, Paragonah and St. I George. She was an ac- tive member of the LDS Church. Survivors: sons, daughters, M. Franklin Savage Jr., Mrs. Keith (Avalon) Baker, both Las Vegas, Nev.; Mrs. J. R. (Betty) Brown, Dallas L. Rose, both Oklahoma City; 19 grandchildren; several great - grandchildren and great - great grandchildren. Funeral services were held March 15 in the Henrieville LDS Ward Chapel with Milton Rose conducting. J.R. Brown gave the family prayer and Viola Rose played prelude and postlude music. Harry Partner gave the invocation. Speakers were Kay Willis and Frank Savage Jr. with remarks by Ken Goulding and Milton Rose. Music included songs by David Rose and family and Romelle Baker, and selections by the choir. Frank Savage Jr. offered the benediction. ' Burial was in the Henrieville City I Cemetery by Spilsbury and Graff Mortuary, where Scott Barton of- ' fered the dedicatory prayer. Pallbearers were Keith Baker, Joseph Baker, Dennis Van Beveren, J. R. Brown, Glen Van Beveren Jr. and John Smith. Honorary pallbearers were James C. Smith, Glen Van Beveren, Sheldon Western, Scott Barton and J.R. Brown. 1 CARD OF THANKS Grief brings its blessings too and for us that has been the knowledge of how much people care. We appreciate so much all the flowers, cards, and kind words of comfort given in love at the passing of our loved one. To all those who helped in any way with food, with gifts, with flowers, with cards, with the funeral service itself, or simply with a tender word, we thank you deeply and sincerely.
