Show Panguitch 's First Mortuary In 1937 An article in last week's issue of Garfield County News stated that the new Smith Mortuary was the first to be established in Garfield County. However, the fact is that in 1937 Panguitch Warner Mortuary, a branch of Warner Mortuary Richfield, was established here, with Neal S. Magleby operating the business in 1937-1938 The story also indicated that when Mr. Smith took his state examination for an embalmer's license, Mr. Magleby, who was on the examining board, gave approval for Mr Smiths license. However, persons passing this examination, become eligible to receive this license which is issued by the State of Utah. Members of the examining board, consisting of three licensed em-balmers, do not give approval for licenses, but only conduct the examination Approval of these licenses is made by the state after the applicant has successfully passed the examination amd is issued by the Utah State Department of Business Regulation. |
