Show Panguitch Library Receives Upgrading Persons are invited to visit the Panguitch Library and see the new look as the building is being refurbished. By looking at the big selection of books one realizes why 1,150 more books were checked out in 1977 than in 1976. In 1976, 4,861 books were checked out while in 1977 6,011 books left the library to furnish hours of reading for Panguitch residents. This isn't counting the thousands of books the bookmobile checked out during the same period. Librarian Winona Sevy not only checks out books but will sit on the floor in the center of a group of youngsters to help them find a book pertaining to a specific subject. In between checking out 29 to 75 books between the hours of 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. weekdays, she is helping to refurbish the library. She is painting the woodwork, the walls, the shelves and helping speed up the remodeling of the library. When the library is completed there will be an open house. Approximately $3,000 has been spent to date in beautifying the library; new shelves, curtains, paneling, tile, ceilings lowered and the basement is being fixed. When people spend the time over and beyond the call of duty to help make the public library a functionable place for the residents of its town, the service is enhanced. |
