Griffin just set new state record at BYU in mile run. Escalante Runner Sets New Record at BYU Meet ESCALANTE A new record was set at the Brigham Young University Invitational Track meet held over the past weekend. Bryan Griffin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Griffin of Escalante ran the mile in 4:28.45 setting a new state 1-A record. A week ago Griffin set a record at the Snow College Invitational running the 880 in 1:59.15. The unique thing about Griffin is the fact that he doeo not have a track to train on. He runs down the highway six or seven miles daily during the summer months and in track season he does a lot of speed and interval work. Also attending the BYU Invitational meet from Escalante were Brent Spencer, Wade Bebee, Kenneth Shurtz, Daryl Griffin, Barry Brooks, Jimmy Taylor, Dane Smith and Brent Griffin. |
