Show Cemetery District Gets Gnrfield Commission Okey During the recent Garfield County Commission meetly a special hearing was held on the Escalante Cemetery District. Many persons were present to give their opinion on the organization of the Escalante cemetery maintenance district. The commissioners ordered that the petition asking for this organization be granted subject to reverification of the signature on the petition and that the election required to be held pursant to the terms of 8-1-5. Utah Code annotated, 1953, be held May 4 at Escalante. The clerk is required to give necessary notice. Further action of the commissioners was their decision to keep the information booth at the present location, at the Art Tebbs property on Highway 12 for the summer of 1976. The motion was made concerning the advertising committee be given permission to prepare a rock-hound brochure at an estimated cost of $200. The county will pay Rea Dodds, chairman of Garfield County fair's expenses to the state fair show in St. George on March 26. The county fair is planned for the week of August 11 through 14 with the Jr. livestock show scheduled August 7. Commissioner Wallace Ott will talk to Bryce Valley Lions about conducting the county queen's contest this eyar with the suggested date of August 6. |
