Several have been added to the injured list Trudy Burk-meyer has her leg in a cast and walks on crutches. Her horse fell with her and broke one bone in her leg. Greg Vidrine fell from a motorcycle and hit his head. They kept him in the Panguitch Hospital for observation. Jerry Lawrence has his wrist in a cast. He was using a drill and it slipped, breaking one bone. Sharon Griffin was out driving a pickup so he is improving. Charles White spent some time in the Cedar City Hospital but is home and able to walk across the street and visit his neighbor, Lynn Gates. Andrew Spencer went to Cedar City to his doctor who pronounced him still alive. Kecves Baker went along to see the eye doctor. Isabel! accompanied them. Margo Gates, Brent Cottam, Patrice Haws and Karen Ott had business in Cedar City. Katheryn Coleman, Iola Woolsey and Bessie Griffin went to Cedar City to the eye doctor. They brought Sharee Coleman home for the holiday. Ethyl Pollock has son, Gary and family here from Kearns and someone he called Uncle Melvin from California. Ethyl Haws and two kids are here from Texas visiting relatives before leaving for Germany where Don is stationed and plans on signing up for two more years. Alfred Chiono had business in Richfield and took along his little friend. Others having reasons to go there were MaeVonn Taylor and son, Jimmy, Ira and Evelyn Huston, Leda Pratt and the race horse fans. Klyn and Marlene Haws went to see their horse, Bay Lady win first in the Futurity. She has run three races taking two firsts and a second. Irene Brown and family and Sari Cowles all of Rock Springs, Wyo. are here visiting their folks. Mary Ellen Coleman could not wait for Irene to get here so she went to Monroe with Joe and Donna Rae Barker and came on home with them. Sari is visiting at the Chase Shurtz home which also has Yulonde Shurti and children from Michigan. Max and Shirley Porter and son, Dennis were visiting the Que Porters. The Lovell Twitchells had Beth and Rotis Coleman and family from Richfield and Laretta Clutter and kids from Las Vegas. Orrin Barney of Richfield visited his uncle, Claron Barney here and Claron filW him in on the local stories of Interest. Missed last week the baptismal services under the direction of Lynn Button for Virginia Monk and daughter, Peggy. Jimmy Woolsey bap-tUed Peggy and Stewart Bailey, Mrs. Monk. The speakers were Lorenzo Griffin and Fay Alvey. The Monks had Peggy's dad, Howard, brother, Danny and sister, Carol, Nancy and Don Frank and stepsister, Shirley Frank and family from Ohio. Stephen and Sherrill Monk were all here for the long weekend. The Marvin Mounteers had daughters, Marva and Peggy home. Frank and Idclla Imlay had a sister-in-law, Ethyl Imlay, her son, Terry his wife, Nancy and their two kids from Ogden. Frank had an appointment with Dr. Lusty in Panguitch so Idella accompanied him. The Melvin Alveys had daughter, Helen home. She just returned from a trip to Florida where she attended the Phi Beta Lambda (Business) National Leadership Convention, as a Utah state officer. During the eight day trip, the Utah delegation visited Disney World, Cape Canaveral, Cypress Gardens and Miami Beach where the convention was held. Lucinda Alvey spent the weekend in Cedar City. Sariah, Deon and Arnold Alvey set up camp at Blue Spruce and awaited the arrival of many relatives for the Haws family reunion. They camped three nights but one was enough for me. Ray L. and family came from Roy, and two of my kids, Jim Alvey, LaVee Wiscombe and families camped the full time. Rulon Peterson and three family members of Salt Lake City stayed two nights and Jim Haws and family one night. Roy and Verl Hardwick stayed two nights. Verl went back to her job and Roy stayed here to visit and do some painting. There were 73 present. Members of the Susan Heaps family went from here to Maple Grove to meet other family groups for a reunion. They had 95 present. Ethyl and Afton were the only ones not represented. Darrell and Dianne Alvey took horses to Richfield and took one first and one second place. Blake Robinson left Gurena in Tropic and took in the races, then they were going north. Brent Cottam and Stewart Bailey went to Provo to attend temple ceremonies. Many friends and relatives accompanied them. Delmar Cottam and Lynn Liston went to Las Vegas stopping in St. George to see Lynn's doctor. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Christensen of Provo spent the weekend here visiting family members. Mark Liston spent several days home from his truck driving Job. Genevieve Weir of Pittsburg and Neta Poulsen of Boulder visited Rol and Mina Porter. Joe and Mildred DeLong of Portland, Ore. and sons, Tom and Kim of Provo were overnight visitors at the Delane Griffin home. My apologies to Ann Haws, I called her Munson. It is rather hard to keep up with current names. Leah Griffin returned home to report that her sister, Jackie Griggs had a successful kidney transplant and after spending a month in the hospital is home gradually gaining strength. Dr. David Trafton of the Southwestern District Health Dept. joined community health nurse, Marjorie Griffin in giving physicals for kin dergarten students. Mr. Fred Whitney from the Visual Handicapped Center in Salt Lake City conducted a "Lazy eye" clinic here for children from 3'i to 6 years of age. Members of the King family held several family gatherings, including a mutton fry at Calf Creek hosted by Max and La Fair Hall of Boulder. Vic and Irene Inglott were honored guests. Beaumont and Verda Griffin went to West Jordan to visit Grace Moosman. Freeland and Phyllis Alvey had all of their family home for the long weekend. Keith Carter is here looking after his interest. I spent Sunday afternoon at Little's Ranch visiting mother and Kay. Arlis and Stella Riggs of Hatch dropped in and Arlis was all bruised up from getting stuck under the house. He tried to crawl under to fix some pipes and had gained weight. Stella! could not decide whether to Jack' the house up off him or put a chain around him and pull him out with the pickup. The part of his anatomy exposed was not suitable to hold a chain and the house was too heavy to Jack up so he got out very slowly and painfully. John Marshall and family from Kingston, N. Y. called to see mother also. Linda and Larry Knight came from Nevada and took Churckie home. Kathy Woolsey and daughter visited here and went as far as Cedar City with them. The life of a widow is sad but w hat makes it doubly sad, If you speak to a guy eyebrows raise high and they say you are chasing the lad. |
