Show Escalante Chit Chat BY PAY ALVEY We art still having good and bad days, the bad sort of outnumber the good, we had our nice weather in January. Nell Barker is still in the Pangultch hospital, and Claron Barney was rushed there in bad condition but they are both improving. Effie Spencer is home after a trip to Vernal where she cared for her Julander grandUds while LeAnn had surgery, she brought the baby home to keep until LeAnn gets her strength back. Hazel Haycock took " son Bryce north to attend school and brought her grandkids home for a visit. Bob Sorensen had business in Calif, so took Evadean and Lola Listen to visit the Heber Poulsens and of course that new baby girl. Diane Alvey had her father Bill Cluff here, he is buying some property in this area. Ron and Evan Schow had son Lynn and a girl friend here from Idaho, they brought Lester Heaps. Judy Kelly has her sister Joyce Gams and a cousin here visiting. Maiiene, Dee and Robert Haws went to Marysvsle for the wedding of Robert's friend Bert Cuff. He is the fellow who is so handy at shoeing horses. Robert went early by himself as he was best man, the pranksters got the vehicles mixed up and decorated Robert's car with all the "Just married" signs, so he came home all a-lone in a honeymoon car, It caused quite a stir. Pon Mecham, Deon, Janene, Denise and Raylene Alvey went to Cedar City. Robert and Louise Listen were afraid son Dahl's appendix was acting up so took him to the hospital, but they brought him home in one piece. Rex and Kim Lawrence had a visit from his mother, Thora Barton and daughters Melanie, Susan and Nancy of Parowan. Parley and Leda Pratt had daughter Lorene Ca-rriegan and new daughter here from Salt Lake City. Martha and Lovell Twitchell are moved home from St. George, their son Craig had a ten day leave before going on a six month cruise In the South Pacific, going first to Hawaii then Australia. Craig helped his folks move and enjoyed the company of relatives and friends. Beth and Rotis Coleman of Richfield have business in Calif, and have invited Lovell and Martha to accom pany them which they are happy to do to get a chengc aud rest before time to start gardening. Lucile Cowles and son Donald spent several days In Pangultch at the Joseph Adair home. The Billle Davis home had Holbert and Bonnie Smith and son Robert from Cedar City. The annual Sophomore Skid was held with decorations wd the music imported from Tropic. The Boy Scouts went on a camping trip led by Phil Baylas, Don Lee and Don Spencer. Earl and Nethella Woolsey are home after visiting out of State; the Lymans in Logan-dale and to Phoenix to see Pole and Marjie Griffin, Ann and Tom Reynolds. The Reynolds have Jed's son Gary Dean and he and Nethella celebrated their birthday anniversaries together, Ann made the traditional cake but there was a question about candles. The Woolseys made it home too late for the funeral services of Mr. Griffin. They found LaVerd Larsen's car at their place but no LaVerd. The neighbors said she had gone to Boulder with Richard Griffin. She stayed overnight then came back here for a not long enough visit. Minnie Davis went to Pangultch to visit Nell Barker at the hospital so invited Mother Sariah Alvey, and Mother Invited me to go for a checkup. Dr. Duggins looked good if we do not overdo him listening to our ailments and writing those prescriptions on top of his cutting work. We picked Leda Mae Foster up in Tropic and we enjoyed her company and driving. So many of our citizens went to St. George for the races ours looked like the deserted village. There was a five county meeting there also and was used by some as an excuse to go. The racing forms were decorated on the back with pictures of quite a number of folks from here, with the horse, Mr. Garfield who won recognition. The mare Christine belonging to John Norman won her race. Members of the Chamber of Commerce and other public minded citizens went to Hole in the Rock, they divided the distance and picked up beer cans and other litter along the way and all met for a picnic at the completion of the Job and the journey. Dale Wilson overseen the whole project from the air, then landed for eats. Slim had business in Richfield and consented for me and his mother to go along If we would promise not to detain him in any way. Millie and James Mclnelly were there and we talked to Gam Haycock and Freda Moosman. In Monroe we visited briefly with Douglas Mclnelly and his charming daughter. Jim Reynolds moved his family out of the Pollock home and Glen Shaw moved his iu It looked like the Shaws may have to pitch a tent, they own two home.' but the old Philo Pratt home was in state of being remodeled and the Reynolds family were settled in that one. Many church officials went to Salt Lake City for conference and it gave those at home a vacation from church.
