Show Escalante Chit Chat FAY ALVEY The nice warm weather brought the apricot blossoms . ' v out then it turned so cold we fear an apricotless summer. Some of the sick are better, Joe Pollock is home and glad to be here, Wilford Griffin brought his son Glen home then he and Coleen took him to Cedar City to an eye specialist. Elda Haws is in the Panguitch hospital recovering from surgery. Jennings and Mildred Allen were enroute to Boise, Idaho and Mildred was not feeling too well so stopped to bo checked in Richfield; they told her an operation was necessary immediately, so they took her on to Salt Lake where the operation was performed and she is getting along fine. Her daughter Irene Wilcox came to be with her and son Herbert was in Salt Lake at the time. The flu is still keeping some folks down and causing others to wish they were. Relatives here got word that Calvin and Martha Rae Schow of Kearns had a baby boy born prematurely and he could not . live. Nellie Bailey had just got home; Lea Rochelle of Ogden brought her and Maud Reyn olds home and they planned to visit awhile, but when they got the news they went right back. Ray and Mildred Adair and the Bill Franciscos came from Cedar City for the weekend, they live in the same trailer court as Milton and Joyce Woolsey so they are one big happy family. They are looking forward to July when Warren Woolsey plans to join them. Paul Cordon was home for the weekend from his job in Manti, he is working at the temple there at carpenter work. Hal Barker has an interesting dent in his pretty pink car, it was no defect in the driver who hit him, just an automatic transmission with no clutch to control things. The Forest Service has put some of the men to work and several more got on the oil rig in the Upper Valley. LaVern Griffin came home for the weekend and stayed over Monday to 'take his daughter Jo Lynn to the doctor with a back ailment. Mary took time out from the Cafe to accompany them. Mrs. John Strang had her mother, Ina Horton of Clrcleville here visiting. Have to apologize to E-von Olsen, got her title wrong, she is a U.S.U. Extension A-gent, and she finished with her second sewing class here and we are so well satisfied with her teaching that we invite her back any time. All poachers must use extreme caution from now on; Frank Daly brought a fellow warden here to show him around and try to find him a dwelling house. His name is David Seymour and he intends to live up to it. They know just how many deer the country has as they spent two whole days counting them early Spring, and there better not be any missing. This Seymour man is from Vermont but has been in Utah long enough to know his way around, he has a wife and three children and we are looking forward to having them in our community. The annual FFA banquet was held Friday night in the new Home Ec. room, the boys spared the mothers a big job by having the FHA girls cook the ham dinner, no one died of indigestion from it, of course Marjie Spencer was in charge. Missed last week the Youth Conference our young people attended at Cedar City, Evadean Hamilton was on the prop am singing a solo accompanied by Gladys Lyman. Ray and Charley Fy-nan had the opening of their Gift Shop as scheduled and the lucky folks drawing prices were Linda Alvey, Rowena Barney and Caroline Cowles. Wanda Hansen had her visit cut short on one end by the news of her son Lynn being 11U she had planned to stay until April 25th, her mother's birthday, but the doctor said Lynn could get out of the hospital If his mother would come to 'care for him, so Minnie Davis! and Sariah Alvey took her to Richfield to meet members of her family who would put , her on a plane for Kcnncwlck, Washington. The South ward had furnace trouble Sunday so they went to the North for Sacrarm ent meeting, the speakers were Mr. and Mrs. Kay Coombs of Boulder and William Mitchell., Rol and Mina Porter, Usher-and Eva Spencer, Lorenzo and Ruth Griffin went to Antimony for the funeral services of Kemp Savage. Louise Llston and Marlene Haws took members of their families for medical checkups and dental appointments. Students and teachers of the Elementary school wish to thank the parents, and all others who helped to raise money for shrubs for. the school gounds. If anyone has flower seeds or starts of plants they would appreciate getting them. The Seniors of our local High School have a two toned look and move around rather care- fully, but they still like horses. Do you folks at the hospital remember Bob Wright who was under your care with a heart attack? A shower was held last week for Mr. and Mrs. Mayo Roundy, yes he finally took the fatal leap, he married Louise Roberts " of Richfield and got a ready made family consisting of a son, a daughter and son-in-law and grand-. child.
