Show Phone Rates Cut Again Telephone rates will be reduced twice within a year, when the recently announced cut rates on interstate long distance calls go into affect in April of this year. In May of 1962, long distace rates on calls within the State of Utah were reduced from 5 to 15 cents depending on the distance involved. In addition, report charges wero discontinued on uncompleted per-son-to-pcrson calls. The discontinuance of re port charges and the reduction in other calling rates last May, resulted in a substantial savings to Utah telephone users, George Diam- ond, manager for the Mountain States Telephone Co. said today. It Is anticipated the recently announced change In rates for out-of-state calls, will save the telephone users across the nation, thirty million dollars annually. A new rate schedule is to be established for station-to-station calls between states. The reduced rate would permit a three minute long distance call anywhere In the continental U.S. for $1.00 or less after 9:00 p.m. Overtimo charges would be reduced accordingly and would not exceed 25 cents per minute in any case, Mr. Diamond said. |
