He was rushed to Doctor Poulsen who stopped the blood and sewed his scalp back on, making him a fancy turban to wear awhile. Mrs. John Strang may start a new style among the ladles with her high stiff collar, she has to do an about face to look any direction except straight ahead. She is not trying to be arlstrocratlc but is recovering from neck surgery. Hal Shurtz had a bad toe, some say it was caused from kicking students out of class, anyway he took it to Dr. Poulsen who fixed it up. Dr. Mason, assisted by Shan-na Gouldlng, ,Nelda Willis, and Lizzie Porter gave typhoid shots here last week and some folks really had some reactions, John Zenz said next time he will take his chances on the fever. The Hode Alveys went back to Page for Hode's check ,up, they have a new granddaughter born to Ilene and Earl Coffman of Page. Morris and Neta Shirts have a new grandson born to Alplno and wife of Cedar City, this makes four boys and they have one girl, so have decided now to raise a ball team and cheerleader. Nellie Bailey came home to choke with the rest of us. Ruby Griffin is head of the March of Dimes here and had her son-in-law, Jim Spencer bring a ball team from Monroe to play the local team, he and Vernon Dean Roundy both played and won the game even If Vernon Dean wa3 favoring one foot. We don't feel too badly over that team winning os Vernon and Jim belong to us, they got their growth before the water shortage. Pangultch High School team played here last week and also won, both groups of girls marched real gracefully. Quite a number of Pangultch folks came over; Cop Bulkley, Dora and Neal Clove, the Kay Heywoods and daughter, Stewart LeFevre, and J. Earnest Riggs of Hatch, of course there were many more we could not identify. Neta Pollock is happy to have her sister Ila Pollock of Magno here visiting, Ila injured her hand in Pangultch on her way here, and It Is her shaking hand too. A letter from Hulda Spencer In Dugway with mem-ibersof her family reports she Is having a wonderful time, feeling good and will be homo when we get water. Gerald Black wrote from Pakistan that he Is getting his Garfield County News, and- even though it takes a long time to arrive It Is still news from home and they enjoy it. Joan Cordon came from Provo bringing her latest boyfriend to meet the relatives and townspeople. Jay Porter of Provo is here visiting his sister Lea Griffin and other relatives. The Rol Porters and Sarlah Alvey went to Pangultch where Tha Frank Colemans take their daughter Sharee to Pan-guitch hospital for treatments every Monday; Elda Haws was over the same day for treatments. Areola Gates is a patient there and so is Bern-ice Gouldlng, Bernlce lives inHenrlevillebut Is still ours, She looked like a little wax doll in that hospital bed. Thurman Spencer has been appointed administrator of the Alden Moyes estate. Dale and Thelma Marsh became grandparents with the birth of a premature baby girl born to Shirley and Sharon Dale Marsh of Cedar City, they went right over and got there to see the baby and name her Karen before she passed away. During the water shortage folks were asked to not water stock from the taps but either drive them to the creek or haul their drinking water. Don Coleman was deputized to tour the town and catch water theives as they were called. He caught Bernlce Wilson, arrested her and the J. P. Berlin Osborn tried to fine her. She pled "Not Guilty", refused to pay a fine and demanded a hearing. Court was held where Bernlce was her own lawyer declaring she had never been notified not to use the water. The jury consisting of Helen Shurtz, Doyle Cottam, Bill Griffin, and Paul Steed pronounced the verdict of not guilty. If you have a teenage daughter you know how the budget squeals, when to match a certain outfit she has to buy new heels. She dresses up for dancing and really does look sweet, then parks those shoes and dances in just her stocking feet. (Continued On Back Page) ESCALANTE (Continued) Mina had a medical checkup. The Al Fosters of Tropic were here again visiting at the Billie Davis home, and went to Dr. Poulsen. Newell Cowlcs and Paul Michael Cordon took a North ward Sunday School class to St. George for baptismal services, and Paul got his endowments preparatory to going on a mission. Gary Wayne Graff took a group of Seminary students to Provo for a special program. Mayor Claron Griffin made a business trip to Salt Lake and Harve Bailey came back with him to straighten out some permits he was selling to some of the S. J. Alveys, they all went to Kanab and I went as far as Little's Ranch to check on my folks, they were still there. The place has been approved and the red tape started to unwind to build a Fallout Shelter in the vicinity. The Roland Porters and the Gail Baileys made a business trip to Richfield and Rol brought back his car which he had left there for repairs. |
