Alvey nd Laretta went to a Thompson reunion, the Martins and Jane ' to Page to visit Roe and Clema Barney who have a new son, they brought Tlmmy and Mlt-zie home with them. J. C. Spencer took a fair sized calf back to Mapleton and In the unloading process put on quite a rodeo, It dragged him through his prize garden, too bad he did not get organized to charge spectators. Don and Judy Kelly entertained friends at a steak fry at Calf Creek. Stan and June Liston and family went to Salt Lake to attend the funeral services of a brother-in-law, Leo E. Jones, and June, accompanied his widow, Donna back to Las Vegas to stay awhile. The Whltey Porters have grandson Steven King from Phoenix, Arizona and Donald and Darlene Griffin and family of Provo. Al Porter had Que and family of Kearns. Nellie Bailey had Alfred and Connie Jepson and family from Calif. The Ray Griffins had son Pole and kids from Las Vegas. The Ott Roun-dys had granddaughters Cheryl and Colette here; they took . '' Renon and girls to Monroe. Ray and Mildred Adair came from Coalville and met Bill and Sharon Francisco who came here from Greenriver for the long weekend. Clea Grelner of Boulder was a guest at the Calvin Shurtz home, then they all went to Boulder for the weekend. Sharon Griffin went along and Jim Alvey was already over there. Quite a number went for the barbecue and dance, Betty R. Alvey played the piano . In the dance orchestra. Smith got home from his Job in time to go with her. Doyle and Kent Cottam and Thelma Cottam were all home, Laura and baby were with Kent. Thelma has been attending summer school In Cedar City. Home Ec. teacher, Mar-jle Spencer has several summer projects going; she spent two days overseeing the girls who painted picnic tables for the lions Club. Melvln and Florence Alvey had a weekend visit from Mr. and Mrs. Omer H. Reid of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Mildred Deuel of Panguitch. They attended church then relaxed at Posey Lake. Missed last week the visit of Loyd and Faye Munson and four children from Illinois. They adopted three bable3, one " at a time of course, then had one of their own creation. Blaine Lyman went back to IllinoL with Jim and Deanna Greer. As far as we can find out little Jimmy Taylor holds the record for sound sleeping; his mother, MaeVonn was carrying him downstairs and lost her footing near the top, slid-tag aU tne wav down. Horace Burrows and Garth Heap were here on State Road business. John Chldester made his usual trip here and was accompanied by Kate who did a bit of politlcing. Leonard and Vera Wilcox were in town hunting Frank Imlay, they went to the north west corner of town but Imlays did not live there any more, so they humbled themselves to ask directions. The Busy Bakers 41! club held a successful Bake Sale with eight girls participating, they made over nine dollars to finance a float for the 24th celebration. Visitors at the John Zenz home were Walter Roth from Tampa, Florida, Mr. and Mrs. Lytho Mclnelly and some rock hound friends from San Diego, Calif. The Lorenzo Griffins had Evan and Lois Reeves and daughter from Las Vegas, one girl was already here, and a grandson Gary. Lewis and Jean and the rest of their family came from Provo. Evan had built the neatest camper and this was the'tripto"try ltout? Doug Haycock and Jeff Thompson have been transferred to the job by Panguitch. Lincoln and Dale Lyman work on the same job. The Vernon Griffins got word that son Raymond was in Fort Ord, Calif. Beth Woolsey has her son Wel-do home on furlough from Fort Riley, Kansas, he looks good but they cut off his pretty curly hair. Betty P. Alvey took son Sammy to Salt Lake to his doctor, Larry Chynoweth took them to Panguitch to board the bus. Marlyn Lay of Kearns is staying with Marlyn Liston. The Cave men stopped here on their way back to Colorado to visit their 97 year old mother who Is still active, one of them had some ailments and was going to a doctor. LaVar and Thora Munson of Las Vegas were in the area and visited the Usher Spencers, they had been to Posey Lake but it was too high for Thora. Wayne and lone Barney had George and Jean Ikaard and family here from Provo. Rol Porter took Mlna back to Provo to the doctor. Dee and Elda Haws and grandson Ricky are home from the Races in Arizona. Clora Lay came from Calif, to stay with her mother Joanna Barker. Dick and Mary Lyman and small son came from Salt Lake to have the baby christened so his grandfathers, Randal Lyman and Eph Coombs, and uncle Vard Coombs could assist. They named him Richard Randel Jr. Gall Spencer also had her daughter named Ronnie Kae. Melvin Wayne Alvey, Cindy Renee Thurber and Bryce H. Cottam were ordained church members. County nurse, Shanna Gould-ing was here on business. Le-Ann Julander and baby are visiting at the Sox Spencer home. Mary R. Mclnelly Is In the Panguitch hospital, James, Millie and Twila took her over and left her for tests and observation. Earl and Nethella Woolsey went to Salt Lake to attend the wedding of a granddaughter, Jlllynn Woolsey, 2nd girl of Hal and Lasca of Kearns. A reception was held at Granger, other people from here attending were Ivan and Nelda Willis, Lorell and Nelda Munson and Bp. Vernon Spencer. Zelma Wilson had a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Kurowskl and three children from Sacramento, Calif. Mrs. (continued inside) ESCALANTE (continued) Kurowski is the former Marie Wilson from here, they visited other relatives and friends. They called on Neta Shirts on their way out, of town, it was the only day Neta had home. Marie left her purse so when Neta noticed it she followed them, catching up at the old light plant. She just as well have kept it as Marie had not missed it. Visitors, it the Earl Woolsey home were Klint and children from Layton, Clyde King and daughter Laree The only signs of a celebration were some big noises just before daylight, we could not find out who was responsible, Vernon Stowe got the credit then we heard of him going to San Francisco to his doctor, he stopped at Davis and visited with son Ronnie. The South ward Primary held a children's dance in the afternoon. Charles Alvey, his wife and five kids of Holiday visited the Arnold Alveys, the Frank Imlays and the Allen Pollocks, he is a son of the Howard Alveys, former residents. "Variety is the spice of life," are words the sages utter, but plain old monotony provides the bread and butter. |
