Show c V Weather Shows Big Daily Temperature Range - Residents of Panguitch have a rather wide choice of seasons each day. The weather variance can give you crisp fall weather in the morning and sweltering heat in the afternoon. Iligh temperature for the week of June 30 to July 7 was 91 occurring July 6, low temperature for, the same day was 36. Low temperature for the week was 34 recorded July 5th. .02 of an inch of precipitation was recorded, being measured on Friday, July 1st. The long dry spell and continuing high temperatures have resulted in extreme hazardous fire conditions throughout the " ' Dixie National Forest. Everyone is urged to be extremely cautious to prevent fires from occurring. The forest vegetation is virtually in explosive condition and it would be very difficult to control the fires that may start. Panguitch Lake Ranger Mark Jones reports a heavy influx of campers to the Panguitch Lake area over the 4th of July week end. With over 700 camps in the area our improved facilities were overflowing. Ranger Jones and Herbert Stoker were kept busy diecting campers to areas suitable for camping. It was estimated that an average of three people per camp making a total of 2100 people in the area. Fishing has been excellent at Panguitch Lake. The fish range from 11 to 13 inches and weigh approximately pound each. Early morning fishing has produced many limits within a couple of hours. Fishing pressure has remained steady. At 10:30 a.m. on July 3, over 200 boats were counted on Panguitch Lake. Marvin and Joleen Meier are proud parents of a baby girl born June 29th. The Meiers came to Panguitch from Wisconsin. Marv is employed on the Powell Ranger District as a Watershed Forester and is active in planning and conducting watershed studies and improvement work on the East Fork. We wish to express appreciation to the public for their cooperation in preventing of forest fires. With the fire danger extreme and heavy influx of people in the area, no forest fires were reported. Missionary Testimonial Elder Martin J. Griffin A farewell testimonial in honor of Elder Marlin J. Griffin, son of Mrs. Alice S. Griffin, prior to his departure to the North Central States Mission, was held June 26th in the Bel-veder South ward at Salt Lake. |
