Show Commerce And Industry Pay Good Share Of County Taxes More than one-half of all the property taxles levied in Utah last year wtfa charged to owners of commercial and industrial property. This fact was brought out in an analysis of the 1965 property tax completed by Utah Foundation, the private tax research organization. Foundation analysts point out that the total property taxes levied in Garfield County last year amounted to $293,805. Of this total $119,999 or 40.84 percent came from owners of commercial and' industrial property; $62,988 or 21.44 per cent from owners of residential property; $76,374 or 25.99 percent from agricultural property owners; $28,680 or 9.76 percent from owners of motor vehicles, and $5,764 or 1.96 percent from owners of other property categories. In Garfield County property taxes levied for school purposes were $204,404 (69.57 per cent of the county total); coun-ty taxes amounted to $48,250 (16.42 percent of the total); city and town taxes equaled $35,785 (12.18 percent); special district taxes were equal to $3,526 (1.20 percent), and the bounty taxes totaled $1,840 (0.63 percent). it' . |
