Show Department Of Interior Confers Honor . Posthumously On McCune Ott At a ceremony in Cedar City on May 3rd, Supt. Warren F. Hamilton of Zion Nat'l Park presented Mrs. McCune C. Ott with the Meritorious Service Award conferred (posthumously) upon her late husband by Secretary of the Interior Udall. Mr.' Ott 'suffered a fatal heart attack while employed at Lake Mead Nat'l Recreation Area. In announcing the presentation, Supt. Charles A. Richey of Lake Mead stated the Award is in recognition of 19 years of superior service to the Government. Mr. Ott remarkable gift for. leadership was evident early in his career and as a result of outstanding ability and devotion to duty he advanced from a temporary laborer position at Bryce Canyon through various responsible positions at Mesa Verde Nat'l Park, Dinosaur Nat'l Monument and Big Bend Nat'l Park, to Foreman IV Maintenance at Lake Mead. His loyalty, dependability and tireless efforts earned the willing cooperation of the men he supervised and the respect of his associates. |
